Biography

Lifehouse is an American rock band formed in 1996 under the original name Blyss.

After one EP as Blyss, Diff's Lucky Day (1999), the band changed to Lifehouse for No Name Face in 2000. The success of the album was due in part to the hit single "Hanging by a Moment" and much of the focus was on the frontman and creative force in the band, Jason Wade.

The follow-up albums were 2002's Stanley ClimbfallRead more in Amazon's Lifehouse Store

Editorial Reviews

The first single & hit from the 2000 debut album 'No Name Face' by this L.A. based alternative act that's been described as a cross between Live and Matchbox Twenty. Both Lifehouse's album and 'Hanging By A Moment' are Billboard hits. No American release exists for 'Hanging By A Moment', and this import disc is backed with three previously unreleased non album tracks, 'Fairytales Sandcastles', 'What's Wrong With That' and 'Fool'. 2001 release.

5.0 out of 5 stars 1st Import from the Best New Rock Band, May 1, 2001

I've ordered this CD and it hasn't come in yet, but I've heard the songs before. This is an awesome first import for the band. It contains: Hanging By A Moment, and three songs the band made when they were in their old group, Blyss: What's Wrong With That, Fool, and Fairy Tales and Sand Castles. These three songs are 3 great, upbeat songs that will put you in a good mood with their great lyrics. If you're a Lifehouse fan, this CD is a must!

5.0 out of 5 stars Definitely worth it, July 16, 2001

Even if you already have Lifehouse's awesome album, I would still recommend that you get this single. "Fool" has become one of my favorite Lifehouse songs. There is just such an honesty and humility in Jason's lyrics and his performance of that track that really touches my heart. To me, it's about unrequited love, but like Jason himself has said, a song can mean a million different things to a million different people. As for "Fairytales Sandcastles" (that's how it's written on the CD--the title appears in a lot of different permutations everywhere), I think the lyrics are interesting and kind of poetic--like "candy-coated prison bars and chains that look like jewelry" and "there's a crack in his plastic crown and his throne of ice is melting..." I didn't think "What's Wrong with That" was as good at first, but I'm liking it more the more I listen to it. And what can you say about "Hanging By A Moment"? It's classic. You go to a show and everybody's singing along with that one. Also, if you're like me and can't get enough of Lifehouse, be sure to check out the soundtrack to the movie "Shrek" because Jason has a track on that one called "You Belong To Me" and it is so incredibly beautiful. I bought the whole CD just for that song.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love This Band, September 23, 2001
This review is from: Hanging By a Moment / Fairy Tale Sand Castles / Wh (Audio CD)
Lifehouse's Hanging By A Moment has been my favorite song since the first time I heard it on the radio. It's a song that hooks you from the beginning, and never loses its play. In fact, all of the songs on Lifehouse's cd, No Name Face, has that same quality. I was glad to find more tracks by them on this import that was taken from Lifehouse's first hard-to-find (believe me) album. Fairytales Sandcastles is a superb song. With Jason's colorful lyrics and beautiful voice supplied by the band's instrumentals, the song sticks with you. As does Fool. It kind of follows in the vein of Hanging By A Moment, but there's a total difference. It's an awesome song, and has become one of my favorite Lifehouse songs. Sitting up there with Hanging By A Moment. What's Wrong with That is an excellent song, and proves that Lifehouse once again can make every one of their songs different and likeable. What can I say? I love this band. And will for years to come.
