5.0 out of 5 stars PUNK?, November 3, 2000
By

This review is from: Hangnail (Audio CD)
This album is just too good to be punk. The whole bands sound is just so tight sounding. The tunes are very high energy and catchy so their sound never gets boring or repetetve. Nick is such an awesomeguitar player. Hangnail managed to infuse tight heavy-metal sounding riffs into pop-punk to make a very melodic punk style. A few trax(no name yet especially) are very Nofx sounding- but even better. Oh, and the lyrics are great too. You can really relate to these guys. If you feel like blasting something in your car stereo get out the Hangnail CD and rock out the guys around(been there done that).

5.0 out of 5 stars Punk and so much more, September 15, 2000
This review is from: Hangnail (Audio CD)
This is probably one of the best christian punk bands you will ever listen to. They go above and beyond the everyday punk band with their amazing guitar riffs and vocals. I will put an emphasis on how great it is to hear a punk band that puts some skill into their music!! But if thats not enough the lyrics are powerful as well as moving. I can only hope there will be more bands in the future that match the talent of Hangnail. These boys are destined for greatness!

5.0 out of 5 stars Such a talented band.....tight to listen to., July 12, 2000

If you buy Hangnail's 1999 self titled release you will have analbum that will be in your CD player constantly for months. This bandabsolutely rocks. Nick is a phenominal guitar player and Mike's vocals are very Homegrown sounding, which needless to say makes a great combo. The drumming is tight, and fast when it needs to be. The bass lines are catchy and sweet as well. To give you another example of what Hangnail sounds like...put all the things that you like about Green Day, MxPx, Lit, Fenix Tx, Homegrown, and Slick Shoes into a blender, put it on MIX, and you have the powerful sound of Hangnail. The first moment you listen to it you will be hooked, and you'll stay hooked for a long time. Killer tracks are- Friendly Advice, Only Human, Making History, Double Standard, and Don't Forget About Today. A must buy for fans of Power Chorded-Pop-Punk.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hangnail-S/T, November 11, 2005
This review is from: Hangnail (Audio CD)
I'm a big punk rock fan unlike most of the people writing these reviews but I still really like this cd. The lyrics are horrible but who cares when you've got one of the best guitarists in the world. He plays both blazing fast rythym guitar and amazing solo stuff. Don't Forget about Today is the perfect song to describe this band. It starts out poppy with absolutely dreadful lyrics but then comes one of the most melodic, fast, catchy as hell guitar solo's you'll ever here.

5.0 out of 5 stars You can find that new sound you're looking for right here!, August 3, 2000

Well, you can probably tell by my email address that I'm a little biased to this particular artist. But I have to tell you, that if you buy this CD, you won't be let down. Exciting guitar grooves, and incredible vocals, make this CD something new, in the face of an old and exhausted punk scene. Harmonies, melodies, and just plain old good music is here all throughout this CD. Just the intro of Friendly Advice, grabs your attention enough! This band has probably the most talent that Tooth and Nail/BEC has seen since MxPx. (no offense other bands, but I am biased! ) If you wanna get more info on the band, please visit the webiste...

5.0 out of 5 stars Good melodic punk, July 23, 2000
This review is from: Hangnail (Audio CD)
This CD has been out for a while but I just picked it up. I wish I wouldnt have waited so long. They are considered punk but they dont have that conventional punk sound that seems to make them all sound the same. They have a sound all of their own.

The guitars are tight and the lead singer and the backup vocals compliment each other. The melody (in the vocals and the music)is what makes them not just another punk band.

They are definately a refreshing sight in today's world of monotonous punk music. Pick it up.

5.0 out of 5 stars It rocked my sox off!, July 10, 2000

The Hangnail cd is one of the best I've ever heard. The music is so technical, but so together that it will be sure to make you get up and dance (trust me I saw them live). The singer, drummer, guitarist, ect... are all excelent musicians individually as well as a band. The songs range from fun and rockin, to serious, to things you can relate to, to just rockin. The lyrics make you feel that you can relate to all the band members. I can't wait to see em again. Buy their cd, it won't be a waste of money.
