Product Description

Hanjie puzzles are known under many other names: pic-a-pix, paint-by-numbers, etc.

Whatever you call them, they're fun to solve. As you progress through a puzzle an image starts appearing and by the time you're finished a beautiful drawing is revealed.

Puzzles are rated for difficulty, from "EASY" to "IQ" with several levels in between.

This game features multiple level undo's and redo's, hints, instructions and plenty of puzzles to entertain you for a long time. You can also show errors or peak at the solution at any time.

The "uncertain cells" solving technique is explained in the instructions, but you can also choose to apply it "automagically" to any particular row or column, thus avoiding tedious shading of black and white cells.

4.0 out of 5 stars NOTE: Updated version has fixed my issue. April 2, 2012

I am leaving the text of my original review at the end, so that the comments make sense.

I just downloaded the updated version of this game, and the simple addition of a "paint" function that allows filling in multiple squares as black or white has made this game playable for me. I was also impressed by how the author responded to my original review--he took my criticism and used it to make his game better. I can now wholeheartedly recommend this game for fans of "paint by numbers" style puzzles, whatever you want to call them.

My original review was as follows:

"I have downloaded other "Paint By Numbers" games for my Kindle and I love that type of puzzle, but the way the controls are configured on this one made me give up before I finished the first one. It takes three separate clicks on the 5-way pad to change a square to black (move, then cycle through the options) and it has to be repeated for each square you and to change. Even on a small grid that's time consuming, on a large grid it would be simply unplayable."

4.0 out of 5 stars Hanjie Griddlers Nongrams May 12, 2012

I am a lover of nonograms and always have a current game on my Kindle. This particular game, however, was not the most enjoyable of the many I have played. If you are just beginning to play with nonograms, I'm sure you would like it very much. For me, it was a little too simple....only because I have been doing these types of puzzles for a long time. I rated it a 4 because it is still a fun game for anyone who wants to try nonograms.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Nonograms! April 7, 2012

While this version of paint-by-numbers may seem a bit awkward in the beginning, I'm finding it to be fun and truly addicting. Once you get the hang of it and get familiar with the way to work the controls, it is well worth it. Please keep them coming!

2.0 out of 5 stars Eh.
Disappointing. Controls aren't nearly as smooth as the other ones (Picture Cross, Picture Perfect Puzzles). Not worth the money since I never play it.

3.0 out of 5 stars poor controls
The game generally plays fine, but the controls are not intuitive and hamper speed of play. Also, solution images are sometimes of poor quality.

4.0 out of 5 stars Challenging but fun!
These puzzles are more challenging than others like them that I have tried, but I'm up for the challenge. I highly recommend these type of puzzles for the logic enthusiast.

I like puzzles, so this is a fun way to pass time when I'm tired of reading and waiting at the doctor's office or something.

2.0 out of 5 stars By and large, not the best
I want to preface this by saying I love this type of game.

However, this is only decent if you are hard up for a game of this style. Read more

Help me improve the interface and user experience!
The "paint" feature is good. One suggestion that I would make is that the paint function only change squares that are unmarked--this would allow filling in the spaces known to be unused after one has filled in all the black squares quickly, without erasing the black squares.
