5.0 out of 5 stars ambient orchestral country which grows like a fungus, December 4, 1998
By A Customer
Like with the best of whiskey's,you may grimace when you take your first gulp of Hank. Should you resist the temptation to spit it out, however, the warm pedal steel, horms and barely croaked vocals will gradually seep through every nook and cranny of your body until you realize that you've killed the bottled and are hooked. For life. If this wordy review isnt making sense, the lilting crescendo of The Tin Chime will. Buy this album. Now.

4.0 out of 5 stars When You Need A Quick Fix, December 16, 2006
When I decided to sample Lambchop after reading about them in a couple of English music magazines, this is one of the CDs I chose to start with, and a good choice it has turned out to be.
Hank is relentlessly mellow and dreary in a way that will hook you and reel you in. Though it is short, Hank is a great CD for anyone in need of a quick Lambchop fix. The first cut, I'm a Stranger Here, really speaks to my nomadic soul. The rest of the songs fit this country-themed album better than OJ's hand in a glove with the exception of the last one. Its kind of a stupid joke and as one reviewer said, not much of a song.
Currently, I have two Lambchop CDs. Hank is one that makes me want to explore them further. If you like alternative country sounds, give this a shot.

5.0 out of 5 stars eeeeeeeeeeexcellent, February 16, 2004
By Chris Whitehead (AUSTIN, TX United States) - See all my reviews

This is a hard record to describe just as Lambchop is a hard band to define. Its like creaky spooky masterpiece. Im not usually listening to lyrics but "Im a Stranger Here on this is an awesome song with the mst wonderfully odd lyrics. The other song standout is the last track, which is just odd and funny and not much of an actual song...
