About the Author

Frank Holmes has been penning horse-related feature articles and historical books for more than 35 years.  His interests have always been centered on the historical aspects of the western horse breeds, and his broad-based knowledge of the origins of the Quarter Horse, Paint, Appaloosa and Palomino registries have established him as one of the pre-eminent equine historians of all time.

 

As a former staff writer for Western Horseman magazine, Frank co-authored volumes 2 through 5 of the immensely popular Legends book series.

Hank Wiescamp ultimately breed some of the greatest horses from four registeries - Quarter, Appalossa, Palomino, and Paint. "The Hank Wiescamp Story" allows the reader to understand how and why Hank made many breeding decisions to create the great "Wiescamp horse". After this book, you too will appreciate what Hank Wiescamp has done to create many of the modern breeds.

Hats off to Hank...... Highly recommend this book for all. Pictures, pedigrees and stories. However, 207 pages could not begin to touch the surface of the 70 years it took to create the "Wiescamp horse".

Hank Wiescamp was a genius in creating the beautiful Foundation bred American Quarter Horses we have today. I recently purchased one of his last Skipper W Foundation bred geldings. I was thrilled to find The Hank Wiescamp Story and learn the history of my horse and this brilliant breeder. If you have a quarter horse you would love this book!
