girls like it too,

I was thrilled to find this series about a kid who struggles with school, but I was worried that the main character was a boy and my ten-year-old girl wouldn't like it. I was also a little worried (okay, a lot worried) that it was written by a Hollywood star. But my daughter loves these books AND the writing is quite good. The main character's LD not the focus of these stories. The conflicts are with friends and parents and teachers and the LD is secondary and treated very matter-of-fact. No preaching. Very nice. I'd highly recommend these.

A wonderful engaging series of books that my 8 year(going on 9) loves to read. The stories are funny, hold attention and pass along a useful message. Highly recommended to kids in 2nd grade or higher. Particularly good reading with kids who may have a learning challenge as they can identify with some of the characters in stories.

Zipzer is a winner!,

As a parent and a teacher, I would highly recommend these books for people of all ages. Even though this is a collection, one doesn't need to read the books in order to understand the vivid characters or lively plots. These books not only make you think about how you treat others, they make you laugh out loud while doing it.

This is a wonderful book series, about a young boy who struggles with a learning disability. It is written from his perspective of his struggles at school and at home, and how he handles it when he is finally tested and finds out he has learning challenges. This book has been a great self-esteem boost for my son who is LD. As a teacher, I would highly recommend it to any child who is struggling with understanding his LD or ADD, and who needs a little confidence boost. You will learn that learning challenges may make things harder in life, but they can also show your strengths in other areas. This is a great book for a parent to read to a LD child to help open up discussions about how they are feeling about school.

My son has learning problems due to sensory integration disorder so is not exactly like Henry Winkler in that regard. However, I think he can really relate to the struggles Hank faces even when he is trying to do things "right". My son has never openly said that he can relate (he is 7) but I think the stories are meaningful to him even he doesn't quite know why.

Great series! Very enjoyable to read for children and adults alike.
This set is a great start to the Hank Zipzer series, by the end of the first book ny son was hooked. We even bought a set for the school library, so everyone can enjoy them. Hank is a great kid with some wonderful friends. His struggles through school will inspire anyone. My 10 year old son loves these books. I highly recommend this book to all boys.

These are amazing books. My 9 year old who hates to read, read the entire series. They taught him that reading can be fun, if you find a story you can relate to. I high recommend these books. Bravo Henry Winkler for making such an impact on youngsters lives. You've turned a nine year old couch potato into an avid reader.

I ordered this collection for my 12 year old son who hates to read. He has read them all, and really enjoyed them. Mom enjoyed them too. Hank is a great character that children can relate to.

This WHOLE series of books is a BIG hit with kid's between 9 and 13 years of age. It has EVERYTHING a child of that age loves to talk about. The stories are entertaining and very topical for kid's in that age group.
I was able to meet Henry Winkler at a book signing and he is a wonderful individual. He suffers from Dislexia and incorporates his difficulties with Dislexia during his childhood in a way that makes children understand that even though someone may be different, they still are important. But don't think these books are all about dislexia, they're not. They deal with issues that kids of the 9-13 age bracket face every day. So far, I like the book about the Enchilada and my second favorite is the newer one about family trips. I can relate, my Sister ALWAYS threw up in the car. Anyone who has a child with Dislexia should be buying these books. If your child does not suffer from Dislexia, these books are still very awesome, your kid's will LOVE them!

Good books for struggling students, their parents, and even the teachers. A fun way to "see" dyslexia and other disablities without preaching. Thanks for giving us a first-hand glimps of the struggles of young learners.
