This is a great DVD. 3 great movies on one DVD and one great price.
2 out of 3 of these are at the top of my favorites list, and no matter
how many times I've seen them I still enjoy them.

The Money Pit. Anyone who has bought an older home and discovered what
a fixer upper is or leads to, can really relate to this movie. They can
probably relate to everything except having the money to do such a fixup, and hopefully most people have not had relationships with someone as shallow and conceited as the meistro, the wife's former boyfriend.

Next comes The Burbs. What happens when you don't know how to take a
vacation anymore and all your friends also have lost that ability and do not know what to do with themselves!

The answer, Become your own Neighborhood Watch group.
Just hope that you don't have neighbors like the Klopaks.

Lastly Dragnet, where Tom teams up with Dan Aykroid as Joe Friday's son.
A great comic redo of a show that maybe was a little too serious, a
little tongue in cheek, and yet had everyone watching.

For a few good nights of something to give you a laugh and let you know
things could always be worse, pick up this DVD!

This is a great set of movies,includes The Money Pit on disc one and The Burbs and Dragnet on disc 2,I found this great 2-dvd set to be quite the bargain,I got it on sale for 8.99,much cheaper then buying the titles seperately,plus it saves space on my bookshelf to boot since it's in a space saving single sized DVD case!,These are some of my favorite comedies starring the one and only Tom Hanks in his earlier years,great supporting casts too!!! Very Recommended! A+

I forgot how funny Tom Hanks was back in the day. The money pit and the burbs are classic Hanks. Plenty of laughs and Dan Aykroyd is hilarious in Dragnet. Well worth the price for these classics. The only drawback is the quality is a little grainy.

Just good clean fun. That's what The Money Pit movie is all about. In an age of movies where everything seems to have to be sexually explicit or totally raunchy to be funny, this clean movie is a reminder of what true comedy is. Though it deals with a quiet adult theme (man and woman trying to keep a relationship together after a "possible" affair - don't want to give up the secret) it is packed full of funny scenes that will make kids and adults laugh time after time. I bought this movie just the other day and though I saw it when it came out years ago it was just as funny. My girlfriend who never saw it got a new laugh out of it too. Highly recommended for anyone who likes humor and for families that want a movie that is just good clean fun. I bought this one primarily for the Money Pit, but the Burbs is funny too. I probably would not have bought Dragnet if it hadn't come as part of the package here as I found it pretty flat comically speaking.

These three Tom Hanks flicks are always excellent value from an established and proficient actor.

Even in his less mature days Hanks was generally excellent and these three movies with highly rated co-stars do not disappoint.

Each movie is basically an accomplished satire into an aspect of life that, between the three, almost all of us will have experienced.

The movies take shots at everything from typical suburban life to the dreaded remodelling/renovation gone wrong and even skirt somewhat taboo areas like religeon and addiction.

If you can laugh at yourself, your past or perhaps sadly future predicaments and generally take life with a bit of a smile, then these are really must have flicks.

If you have difficulty keeping perspective in todays life of trial and travail, watching "the money pit" helps to remind you that you're not alone.

"The Burbs" is an enjoyable wandering into the world of chineese whispers, where that "wondering what the neighbours are up to" that we've all experienced from time to time is taken to totally illogical, but believably portrayed conclusions - with excellent comic relief.

All in all excellent entertainment that I enjoyed at a very nice price point, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them and hope you migh enjoy them as much as I did.

Since other reviewers had already mentioned about the movies on these DVD's in their reviews and most of us already knew these movies, I am not going to waste our time to go over them again. I would like to report the technical details of these two DVD's to help other people make their buying decisions.

1) DISC ONE: Dual layer, The Money Pit, 91 minutes - Anamorphic Widescreen 1.85:1 - English 2.0, Spanish 2.0, English DTS 5.1, French DD 5.1 - English subtitle & SDH.

2) DISC TWO: Dual layer, The 'Burbs (106 mins) & Dragnet (102 mins). Both have the following specs: Anamorphic 1.85:1 - English 2.0, French 2.0 - English subtitle & SDH.

The special features are: The making of The Money Pit, The 'Burbs alternate ending and Theatrical Trailers for all 3 films.

FYI, I bought The 'Burbs on DVD a few years ago [*], which was on a single layer DVD. I can say that the copy of The 'Burbs on disc 2 is the same as that DVD. I didn't own The Money Pit & Dragnet on their own DVD's before buying this set so I can't talk for them. My friend who owned The Money Pit DVD told me Disc 1 was the same as what he had. Hope my report will be helpful for other people.

[*] The product info of The 'Burbs DVD on Amazon says that it has an English DD 5.1 soundtrack. Actually, the English soundtrack on this disc is a DD 2.0 surround mix. If we run the movie through Dolby PL IIx or DTS Neo:6, the simulated 6.1/7.1 surround sound is very convincing.

I got this DVD for the Money Pit. It's funny and enjoyable. This is for anyone who had or will have home repairs done. Everything does take longer and costs more and that's what makes it fun. I can relate.
