Format: Hardcover
WHOA, I couldn't believe it, NEVER in my wildest dreams would ever come across something like this in my lifetime. I was lucky to come across this in a used bookstore. It is chock-full of BOTH behind-the-scenes trivia as well as original H-B animation art which has all the characters from the 1960's engaged in different types of poses and activities (say, like a baseball game, a circus with Fred Flintstone as the RM, a train ride which shows Shaggy and Scooby zeroing in on Yogi Bear's picnic basket, all the Flintstones cast frolicking around in the snow, even Picasso-like caricatures of Fred, Wilma, Barney and Betty, and the list just goes on and on and on....)

However, what they show in the chapter on their 1970's works also tends to come up short. While it does make mention of the Hair Bear Bunch, Speed Buggy, and Hong Kong Phooey, it also has either scant or nothing on Josie and the Pussycats, Clue Club (otherwise known as "That 70's *Cartoon* Show" LOL), Devlin, These Are The Days, and their bona fide 1973 classic Charlotte's Web, all of which happen to be my all-time faves. Plus, in retrospect, I honestly can't help but think they also had a little more nuance, whether it was slapstick, dialogue or production design (however predictable but not shallow and DEFINITELY, not at all, cheesy or moronic neither). To me, as a 1970's child who grew up watching these, I can't help but think none of these shouldn't at all be overlooked. So there's also more to life than the political correctness of the Brady Bunch, but I would also put them in the pantheon of 1970's cartoon classics like Schoolhouse Rock and Dr. Seuss, where they really were VERY genuine and original.

SO, overall, still a worthwhile read. So, anyways, what have you got to lose if you buy it used from Amazon or anyplace else (if you did a search on either Yahoo or Google)? If you've been holding out for as long as I have, GO FOR IT!!!! For me it really was worth it =)
