Love it,
This PH tester works great! It seems to be very accurate and dependable. Don't forget to order the 4.01 and 7.01 Calibration Solution to calibrate it with, which you have to do before you can use it.

It has it's ups and downs,

I've only owned mine for about a week, but that's long enough to see some of the good and the bad of this tester.
True it is better than the strips or liquid testers. I like the fact I can replace the electrode if needed. For the price, if it lasts a year it will be worth the investment. The cons: The reading does fluctuate, but I think that's due to the liquid levelling off to the ambient temperature because I notice it falls or climbs pretty steadily, then only jumps back and forth by a reading of .01. I'm not too sure of the water resistance of the unit, so I'm careful about moisture on the body. Having to manually adjust the calibaration y the two tiny screws on top can be a back-and-forth proccess. In my opinion if this unit were waterproof, had automatic calibration and teperature compensation features it would be a much better unit.

I can a lot of food. It is important to know if the PH is low enough for to ensure longer shelf life. This ph meter works well...and was easy to adjust to the 4.0 and 7.01 samples. I am very pleased.

So far, my experience with this product has been positive. Yes, the reading fluctuates slightly, but it does on the several-thousand dollar laboratory pH meters that I have used also. That is just the nature of digital pH probes. Calibration was very easy with the two buffer solutions that they provide (pH 7.01 and 4.01). The package also included a cleaning solution in addition to the two buffers. Unfortunately, it did not include storage solution, but I made some of my own using potassium chloride and the pH 4.01 buffer (however, the instructions say that in a pinch you can store the probe in the pH 7.01 buffer). The probe holds calibration reasonably well. I just tested the calibration again, and it was a bit further off that I had hoped. It is easy to recalibrate, so it is still a good deal considering that it is a cheap unit. If you are just looking to do some occasional pH measuring, this is a great unit for you. If you want a full-time probe for quite frequent use, I would invest in one that might hold the calibration a bit better.

The checker I received didn't work.I returned it for a refund and ended up getting a different pH checker (different brand). Was a pain adjusting it constantly to try and get a reliable reading.Which I never got.I purchased the 2 solutions to calibrate it with too.Very disappointed.

For what I need this meter for, it will work. That being said, the reading jumps all over the board so I'm not sure exactly what the reading is in the end. I wish I would have spent a bit more money and got a better one. Oh well, live and learn...

Works Fine,
This review is from: Hanna Instruments HI 98103B Beer pH Tester with Replaceable Electrode (Misc.)
Item calibrated easily and worked just fine on brew day. I like the fact that I can read to the .01 for pH when brewing. I didn't really have any issues with the pH jumping all over, it stayed pretty steady. If you are brewing just make sure to cool down your wort before you measure. In case anyone is wondering the item did come with 2 packs of each calibrating solution along with 2 packs of the cleaning solution.

Pretty good for the money,
This review is from: Hanna Instruments HI 98103B Beer pH Tester with Replaceable Electrode (Misc.)
I enjoyed using this meter for almost six months until I dropped it in a bucket of water. Don't do that! It never gave an accurate reading again. Also I don't see the point in replacing the electrode when a new meter is only a few dollars more.
