Hanna Instruments HI 9813 Portable pH and Conductivity Meter

This is my second 9813 in three weeks. The first one did not
give the pH above 3.5 no matter what I put the probe in. It
was returned and a new one was shipped in it's place.

The second one worked well for one day then began to read
a pH of 7 and EC and PPM of 0.00. I thought that the probe
junction connector to the meter was bad because twisting
the connector sometimes gave results. I contacted Hanna and
they said that they would replace the probe and cable but I
was not sure if the connector or the pins were bad.

Today, the meter reads pH sometimes and will not read EC or
PPM at all.

It is hard to operate a hydroponic system without knowing the
pH and EC. This meter just is not reliable and I am going to
return it and try another brand.

I worked as an analyzer technician for 15 years so I am
familiar with instruments.

Hanna contacted me and said that they had problems
with this meter and revised to a newer type.

They sent me one free of charge. I was very impressed that
they did this. Excellent service to a customer's problem!
They really cared!!

New meter works fine. This is a great combo meter for a
hobbyist or for a pro. I can't imagine that a hydroponic
operator could need anything better since this has pH, EC
and PPM digital readout and is temperature compensated.

I would now give it a 5 star rating.
