I bought this book for my first born child who is now 12 because her name was Hannah! This has become a popular favorite amoung all 4 of my children over the years, and their classmates, when I brought this book to 'secret reader' day at their school. It is a very cute story and the writing enables me to read aloud with a country accent that I didn't even know I had! Kids pay attention and are intrigued by the story and the pictures. Highly recommend! Sweet story!

This is one of my five-year-old's favorite books. Mine too! We love nearly all of Lisa Campbell Ernst's books, as her stories are fabulous and illustrations are unique and very beautiful. This story is about a city girl's longing to be a cowgirl and her consistent pursuit to be one. When she finally gets the chance to go out "west", she kindly excepts a lesser role on the ranch, but ends up fulfilling her wildest dreams and saves the Wild West from an situation she unexpectingly has been training for her all along.

"Yeeeha" Cowgirl power for pint-sized readers.,

This review is from: Hannah Mae O'Hannigan's Wild West Show (Hardcover)
This is a fun, cute tale of a pint-sized cowgirl and her equally tiny pony who just happen to save the day on a real Western ranch. The story is set in the days of the railroad and telegram but any contemporary girl (or boy) would find it entertaining as well. It mixes reality (real ranch skills) with fantasy (well, just wait till you see how she saves the day!). All along, Hannah Mae shows remarkable pluck, determination and bravery. Her relationships with adults (mother, father and uncle) are all presented as warm and affectionate. The drawings are very modern in style and skillfully but playfully rendered. My young girls love this and one has taken to cheering, "yee-ha!".
