5.0 out of 5 stars R.I.P. Cornsilk Classic Translucent Powder! But there's hope..., July 16, 2009
This review is from: Sally Hansen, The Original Cornsilk, Classic Translucent Loose Powder #30-02 No Color (Health and Beauty)
I cannot understand why Sally Hansen is not paying more attention to the LEGIONS of womenfolk scouring the earth to find this precious stuff, now that it's basically going the way of the dodo. Do they not understand we'd KEEP BUYING IT?? I feel like I'm delivering a eulogy, here!

I discovered Cornsilk in the early 80's and have been a fanatically loyal fan, ever since. I am not loyal to brands: a product must earn it. Like most women, we demand performance!

At that time, it was the only face powder I could find -- anywhere -- which did not list "talc" as the first ingredient; instead, it listed first, ground walnut powder, I believe. THAT was key to its success: a powder which does not cake or get maskey, controls oily skin for hours, gives a lovely, not too matte, but "just right" finish, and can be reapplied again and again, without ever turning your face orange. All this, plus no perfumey smell. And let us not forget: The PRICE!

Since then, many a contender has come and gone. Expensive powders from pricey dept. stores languished on the shelf - sampled in earnest and ultimately vanquished by the humble yet mighty CORNSILK.

Even with the changes this product underwent in packaging and formulation, we remained devoted.

So what are we to do, now? Order if for twice the price on EBAY if we can even find it? Yeah, we could and some of us will. But if they've stopped making it and we're simply hoarding what will ultimately be gone anyway, another option (and the one I've chosen), is to start looking for a replacement!

And I'm pleased to say, I've found a contender. (Fingers crossed, I haven't used it for more than a few days): NYC face powder. As in, "New York Color." Bought it for - - get this: $2.99 at Rite Aid.

It's good stuff and yes, it seems to have similar if not exact performance to our beloved CS. Feels and looks good, reapplication doesn't cake, it blots oil, isn't drying, no smell, and the color and texture of my skin doesn't change.

One more bonus: remember when they changed the Cornsilk box inside to a hard plastic interior you couldn't pull off as easily as the old one, to get the remaining precious powder out? NYC doesn't have that problem. (Minor quibble: NYC's little sponge applicator is ever so quaint. Toss it and use a decent brush!)

I would write a review on NYC, but can't find it on Amazon, right now. But HEY! I can buy it down the street for under 3 lousy bucks!

Can't find Cornsilk anymore like the rest of us? Don't get mad, get even!

RIP Cornsilk. If you come back, I will be waiting for you. Maybe. Meantime, I just had to move on!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome . . . don't know why it's so hard to find in stores!, February 28, 2008
This review is from: Sally Hansen, The Original Cornsilk, Classic Translucent Loose Powder #30-02 No Color (Health and Beauty)
I have loved Cornsilk for I don't know how long. It's the best and most gentle makeup powder out there. It's a shame that more stores don't carry it . . . I buy tons of it when I see it so that I don't ever run out.

5.0 out of 5 stars PLEASE DON'T STOP MAKING THIS, May 30, 2009

This review is from: Sally Hansen, The Original Cornsilk, Classic Translucent Loose Powder #30-02 No Color (Health and Beauty)
I CAN'T FIND THIS IN STORES ANYMORE AND I THINK IT'S A REAL SHAME. THIS IS SO GENTLE ON THE SKIN AND BLENDS SO WELL WITH ANY MAKEUP.

I HAVE BEEN USING THIS SINCE 1966..AND NO, I'M NOT OLD, I'M VINTAGE.. AND I HAVEN'T FOUND ANYTHING THAT WORKS AS WELL AS THIS PRODUCT.

I WAS SO EXCITED WHEN I FOUND THIS ON AMAZON. I HOPE THEY CONTINUE TO OFFER CORNSILK.

IF YOU HAVE NEVER TRIED IT, TRY IT, YOU'LL LIKE IT. PEOPLE THINK I'M AT LEAST 15 YEARS YOUNGER THAN I AM AND PART OF THAT IS THE MAKEUP. I USE THIS WITH MAX FACTOR PANSTICK AND IT REALLY DOES COVER BLEMISHES WELL.

I HOPE THIS ISN'T DISCONTINUED. THE ONLY THING I HAVE FOUND THAT COMES CLOSE TO THIS IS NEUTROGINA LOOSE POWDER..STILL NOT AS GOOD AS CORNSILK.
