Useful stuff first: You will also need to buy a Hansgrohe iBox

Of note, I'm using almost the same review as my thermostatic with diverter trim because they are very similar.

Make sure you (or your installer) read the installation guide thoroughly before installing. My installer didn't and I had to go back and "fix" it, I'll explain later.

This shower control is very well made... most things are heavy gauge metal but operates smoothly. I agree that cheaping out on the cover plate with plastic is poor form. Mine has a small scratch already within 1 week. But the look of this is just plain awesome, very modern and shiny chrome baby!

My problem: My installer didn't pay attention to the temperature setting... Even at the hottest setting, we were only getting warm water at best. I opened up the dial and adjusted it according to installation manual and then it worked like a charm. To adjust it, read the installation instructions or follow my less technical directions below:

1. On the left side, there's a small access hole for your allen wrench. Remove the controller.
2. Inside, you'll find a thingy protruding with a plastic plate covering. Behind that, there's a machine screw going across. Behind THAT, you'll find a little plastic cover which you can turn to adjust temperature.
3. To adjust the little plastic cover, you just lift it up slightly (toward you) and turn it counterclock-wise for hotter or clock-wise for colder water. On the right side, you can see little marks indicating the position of the water temperature. I just put the little arrow towards the 3 o'clock position. I think that's the hottest it'll go.
4. Put the controller back via allen wrench.

Before adjustment, we can only turn the dial 90 degrees...

We did not buy this from Amazon but from a local bath and plumbing supplier. I have to say, the Tub spout and the sink faucet from Hansgrohe were quality, solid metal, with apparent brass fittings.

This shower controller is crap. The plate is plastic garbage covered with chrome paint. It looks as though it will stay shiny for maybe 2 cleanings, if we're lucky, without major scratches. This is a real disappointment. The shower hose we purchased is also plastic. We had a very competent plumber/contractor with 30 years experience, who is also a friend, install and adjust this. It still wiggles a bit because it's shoddy.

From what I understand, the formerly German Hansgrohe company was bought by a mega-conglomerate based in Michigan that owns a bunch of companies, such as Delta, Ginger, Newport Brass, Axor, and many more. Hansgrohe used to be good, with no plastic. Guess the company is trying to skate on the quality associated with the old name but increasing profits by chintzing out on the products. Don't bother. Keep looking until you find something better. Go check this out at a bath supplier and see it for yourself before buying.

For our recent home remodel, my wife and I remodeled two bathrooms and added a powder room. We decided to keep a consistent look throughout our home, and went with Metris E in chrome for all the bathrooms. We like it's, clean, contemporary lines, and are really happy with how solidly built these are.

We used this pressure balance in our master shower and didn't need a diverter since our shower and bath are separate in our master bathroom. The operation is smooth and simple, turning the handle counter-clockwise increases the water pressure. At about a 100 degree angle, you feel a slight "bump" that lets you know you're at full pressure, and just about at the halfway point between hot and cold. Turning it past that increases the heat.

As another reviewer points out, there can be some confusion with getting this pressure balance installed properly. We experienced the same problem where we were only getting lukewarm water at the hottest setting. We contacted our contractor, it was a simple fix that only took 20 minutes. Problem solved. My wife and I love the look and operation of all our Hansgrohe Metris E fixtures and have no reservations recommending them to anyone looking for a luxurious, well-built, contemporary piece.

These are stylish but really not high end, the surround is chromed plastic and tends to be hard to clean.
