First off, let me say I still use my vise-grip pliers and they still get used a lot. But these are just faster and better. There is no fighting with the adjustment screw when you are trying to hold an assembly together. They just work quickly and hold tightly. I had already bought the smaller set and this set just had to come to my toolbox for that reason. The frustration these things save you will be well worth the price premium you pay for the C.H. Hansons over the VGs.

The only ding I can give these is that they are made offshore. I would prefer to buy my tools with a "MADE IN THE USA" stamp, but that is becoming harder and harder. However, they are well made, the chroming appears to be well done, and they lock up tightly with no play.

Buy these pliers and you will work happily and quickly.

I had hoped to be able to use this with one hand. Unfortunatly, before it "adjusts" to the size of the item, the handles are so far apart that it takes two hands to sqeeze it down until it starts to adjust. So, just like regular vise grips, it takes two hands, but it is quicker to use than turning the screw on vise grips.

I have owned every variation and configuration of the major competition's comparable tools. Now I buy and own all of the LOCKJAW tools I can get my hands on without thinking twice. I got to where if I didn't have what I needed in LOCKJAW,I'd buy it rather than use the existing version of the competition I already own. You'll be the same way if you use and DIG tools like I do.

I found LockJaw pliers at a woodworking show. They are just like Vice-Grip pliers and are built well and cost about the same .. but they automatically adjust! These are wide-mouth versions. I would have preferred a little more room between the jaws and the connection point to grab deeper into a piece of wood, but I have no complaints.

I've got the 11" and 7" CH Hanson clamps and they are fantastic tools to have around. They do indeed have the ability to clamp any thickness of material with a constant force (you set the clamping force rather than the thickness) and they are built more solidly than new Vice-Grips. I'm just disappointed I didn't buy them years ago...
