It's quality made and without a doubt, will last a long time if caution is used.

I recently bought a Dewalt cordless drill (it's a Dewalt DW990) and I personally thought it would be awesome to be able to sharpen a pencil using my new drill. Nonsense right? Well normally that would be case until I found this product. Now only is this entire product made in the United States of America (including the pencils) but this product really does work. It's been several years since I last since a sharpener made in USA, even more so, a useful drill attachment.

I've attached some pictures and I really like how item lives up to it's claims. However, if your chuck isn't 1/4 inches, don't despair. My DW990 Chuck is 1/2" (13mm) and this item works just as well. However, I have a keyless Jacob's chuck and it's the original chuck that came with the drill. This means, you don't have to buy another chuck at a brick and mortar shop or here just for a 1/4" chuck. If you do decide to buy another chuck, I highly recommend a Jacob's brand or a Rohm brand, key less is probably the easiest to deal with these days.

This isn't a negative, but it's crucial to remember this chuck-able drill attachment is made out of plastic, not metal. However, the plastic that is used isn't the cheap kind that is used in everyday items. It's quality made and without a doubt, will last a long time if caution is used. You never want to tighten to tightly with any chuck type (now if you have a hammer drill with a ratcheting chuck that is another story) to where it's too tight, but in a happy medium. Not too tight, but not loose.

About the blade on this sharpener, not only is this blade sharp, but it's not at all brittle at all. Now I will be quick to say it's not a diamond blade, but I believe it's made out of carbon metal.

New pencils are too long. It takes hours of chewing or whittling to get them reduced to a manageable size. This drill powered pencil sharpener cuts my pencil reduction time by at least 90%. Ever household needs one!

In addition to doing a fantastic job at sharpening pencils, this handy drill attachment also doubles as a sharpener of anything long and thin. Since installing this on my cordless drill, only limited battery life has stymied me in my quest to sharpen anything and everything. This product has helped me sharpen the following items (YMMV): Pencils, Twigs, Wood Dowels, Candy Canes, Bread Sticks, Biscotti, Cheetos, Pretzel Sticks, and much much more.

How has civilization existed up to now without a drill powered pencil sharpener? I am going to start volunteering at my son's school just so I can sharpen pencils. Kazzzzow! Done!

I just happened to see this by accident and thought what a great idea! I bought 2 and yes it does work great. The only time I use it in my drill is when I decide to sharpen a bunch of pencils at once, the rest of the time I just use it like a regular hand powered sharpener.

This is a tool lovers pencil sharpener. It always starts a conversation around wood workers. Besides the entertainment value, it does do a good job of sharpening standard pencils.

My son (1st grade) always comes home with a box of pencils that need sharpening. Electric sharpeners are good, however still it was taking too long and was boring. I put this tool in my drill press, and tada - instant sharp pencils. (and short if you are not careful)
I think if they made a metal version of this tool I would purchase it.
