From School Library Journal
Grade 2-4-A useful overview of the historical, religious, and secular aspects of the holiday. The text is straightforward and the full-color photographs and reproductions are attractive. However, the layout is a little cluttered and the majority of the captions for the pictures simply restate passages from the text. Also, there are no illustrations for the craft instruction (a dreidel made out of a pencil stuck through a piece of paper) or the finished product. Diane Hoyt-Goldsmith's Celebrating Hanukkah (Holiday, 1996) is a more personal look at the holiday for the same audience.-M. A.
