"This book has many different angles of appreciation: besides being a tremendous adventure, it reveals, to the conscious reader, an ocean of wisdom. Everybody will find profound guidelines for self-actualization/self-help, business people will find new perspectives for doing business in the new millennium, and romantics will feel completely in their element when Hanuman find his "ideal soulmate" in the United States. Recommended for young and old!"
"Hans skillfully welds together realization with hih adventure, forming a powerful new perspective...the missing link in creating health, wellness and fulfilling relationships!!" -- Robert A. Stratbucker, M.D., Ph.D., Physician/Engineer, Founder of Health Technology Corp.
Fact or Fiction? The journey beyond the sphere is one that may ask that but does not really need to be answered. It is all backdrop. Hanuman's Journey is a story of courage. It is the courage shown by the main character in traveling halfway around the world for the sake of friendship, enlightenment and love. And it is the display of courage by a first time writer to deliver his compelling story in his non-native language. Simplicity is the key. Van Latenstein's story is an archetype. The 'salvation of the world story' is a plot line seen through history and perfected by Stephen Spielberg in Indiana Jones and carried to the New Age market by James Redfield in The Celestine Prophecy. In van Latenstein's Hanuman's Journey, a metaphysical message is woven through the detail of exotic locations and international intrigue. -- Michael Braunstein, The Reader, December 2, 1999
The name of the story's hero, Hanuman, is the author's nickname, given him by the divine guru high in the Himalayas. Where autobiography and fiction intermingle is a question neither addressed or considered. Who cares? It is the story that counts, not the facts or the fictions. The lessons learned are in the lines and between the lines. Hans/Hanuman takes us from Amsterdam to India to the Amazon to Miami and Moab on the way to Sedona, the Rockies and finally true love in Omaha. Awakened by a late night phonecall, Hanuman is called to carry an ancient archetypal symbol into the West from a guru in Tibet. The reasoning is simple: Humanity must be united. And the Earth provides the metaphor. The Himalayas are the East, the Rockies are the West. The Himalayas are female, the Rockies are male; the Himalayas are yin, the Rockies yang. Hanuman's instructions are to unite the polarity. His mandate is to bring the symbol to the West. -- Michael Braunstein, The Reader, December 2, 1999
Van Latenstein has traveled extensively in the journey that brought him to the United States. And Hanuman does the same. In Hanuman's version, bullets abound. Traveling by taxi in India or by riverboat along the Amazon, someone is out to get Hanuman. From ambush and from helicopters, the fire flies. Along the way, Hanuman learns as much about himself by journeying within as he does of the world by his journey through it. Finally reaching the West, it seems the adventure nears completion. But for Hanuman, it is only the beginning -- Michael Braunstein, The Reader, December 2, 1999

Hans has a new and refreshing style of writing. His character's journeys to some of the world's breathtaking and spiritually inspiring sites were beautifully scribed. I read with anxious anticipation of each new adventure and with a curiosity I'd not experienced since reading my most treasured childhood novels. I would recommend this new work to anyone wanting to capture the imagination and stimulate the soul. Looking forward to more.

A must read for anyone searching true happiness.,

Regarding how I found out about this book, I have been a devoted fan of Ramayana for many years now. Hanuman is my favorite person and I thrive in hearing and speaking about him. I just happened to start up a search in Amazon.com for Hanuman. I ended up ordering this book thinking it was a story about the Hanuman in Ramayana. At first when I realized it wasn't, I must admit I was a bit disappointed. But, after reading the first few pages, I couldn't put it down anymore and just immersed myself into the story. Also, at first, the fiction part of the story (united elite, guns, etc.) didn't appeal to me, but the more I read - the more I was hooked. I enjoyed very much how the author combined such an interesting adventure with such valuable knowledge. Please read this book.

The book storyline is written similarily to the "Celestine Prophecy". The story runs a bit fast and ends up being unrealistic. However, this author ignores details to his spiritual truth or much of any. Leaves the reader more dazed than directed.
