About the Author
Kathie M. Thomas is an Author, Blogger, Speaker and Virtual Assistant Coach & Trainer. She began her business 'A Clayton's Secretary' in 1994 to be home fulltime for her 5 daughters. Today Kathie runs a global business via the internet from her home office in Melbourne, Australia and her blogging efforts has placed her in the Top 100 Australian Blogs list. Kathie is wife of Graham, mother (and step-mother) to five beautiful daughters and a business woman, running a full time international business from her home office in Melbourne, Australia.Kathie is also a Virtual Assistant, VA Coach and Trainer, Public Speaker, Blogger and Author and has published over a hundred articles in various printed and online publications relating to operating a business from home. She also writes devotionals for Christian publications and is a member of Faithwriters.com.
In 1993 something happened that changed the course of Kathie's life, and that of her family's lives. The opportunity to become a Proverbs 31 Woman - a business woman, running a business from home and being available to her daughters full time became a reality. And with it an amazing journey leading her to unimagined possibilities and experiences.

It was nearing the end of 1993 and life had been really hectic that year. I felt like I was going crazy. I had a good government job working with a research organisation and was the Personal Assistant for 8 Project Officers - eight bosses!
We were working on Australia's Best Practice Demonstration Program which was being over sighted by the Department of Industrial Relations. I handled the work well but wanted more. It wasn't stimulating enough. I had my eyes on the senior PA role but she looked like she was there for life and if I wanted to move upwards, I was going to have to move outwards to another organisation first. The possibility of studying for an MBA or something crossed my mind but only fleetingly - it wasn't what I wanted to do but I wasn't yet sure of what I really did want to do.
Melanie, our eldest, had begun Year 7 which meant high school in Victoria, Australia - a year sooner than it had been in our former home state of South Australia. She was no longer eligible for After School Care and at the age of twelve we were not keen on her being home alone after school. Graham and I agreed it would be better if all five of the girls were home together after school, rather than one on her own, so we elected to take them out of After School Care and I would ring home every night somewhere between 4.00pm and 4.30pm to make sure they were all home, doing their homework and I often ended up refereeing fights and issuing instructions during those calls.
I used to get really frazzled about this and remember commenting to my husband "there has to be a better way!"
Kathie has a powerful message for women who want to return back home to work and be there for their families. She is living proof it can be done, even with a large family. Kathie is available for bookings at church events, women's groups and other organisations who would like to learn more about being a work at home mum.

Inspiring, and thought provoking in a way that makes you want to review your own life for times when God stepped in and lifted you up. The stories are simple yet intriguing. A must have for those cold winter nights when warmth and comfort are a necessity.
