Best Book on Child Abuse that I have ever read!, May 22, 1999

This review is from: What Happened to Suzie? (Hardcover)
A brave tale of a woman determined to overcome child abuse that was pervasive in her lifetime. From the beginning we meet Suzy and her tormented brothers and sisters as they try to cope inside the boys room, a place few of us would have survived. Insde of a family with a mother who hated her and a brother who was under tremendous stress to play the role of father and brother, Bill is reprehensible in his daily abuse of his siblings. Suzy, though self destructive at times shines as a survivor who does everything she can to hold on to the memory of her late grandmother, who died when she was only ten years old. Where some may find this book difficult to read; I think the writing reminds me of that of Charles Dickens. It's a sad tale and many may find this book difficult to read, I enjoyed it and think it is the best autobiography I have ever read!
