More About the Author

About the United Church of God
The literature provided is published by the United Church of God, an International Association, which has ministers and local congregations in the United States and many countries around the world. We trace our origins to the Church that Jesus founded in the early first century. We follow the same teachings, doctrines and practices established then. Our commission is to proclaim the gospel of the coming Kingdom of God to all the world as a witness and teach all nations to observe what Christ commanded (Matthew 24:14; 28:19, 20).

Vision Statement
A Church led by God's Holy Spirit, joined and knit together by what every member supplies, with all doing their share and growing in love to fulfill God's great purpose for humanity to bring many children to glory (Ephesians 4:16; Hebrews 2:10).

Mission Statement
The mission of the Church of God is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God in all the world, make disciples in all nations and care for those disciples.

WHAT Happens After Death. It answered questions that was important. My mom is dying from Cancer. I'M FALLING APART. I'm her main caregiver and I was losing it. I didn't think I was going to make it. I now have hope. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.

This publication was produced by a group associated with the teachings of Herbert Armstrong. Groups associated with Armstrongism include Restored Church of God, United Church of God, Philadelphia Church of God, and Living Church of God.

I was a member of an Armstrongite group for over ten years as a young Christian, so I am intimately familiar with their teachings. I am now attending an EFCA (Evangelical Free Churches of America) congregation.

Armstrongites should be considered a cult, and should be avoided. The two major reasons why they should be considered a cult are their “God family” doctrine and their “true church” or exclusivist position.

Their “God family” doctrine teaches that the redeemed become fully God in the resurrection, and will join the Godhead. In other words, there will be no difference between the redeemed, God the Father and Jesus Christ in terms of nature. They deny the personhood of the Holy Spirit.

Salvation, to them, is about proving themselves trustworthy to be given the full powers of Godhood. They are qualifying to rule as a God, ultimately over their own planet. They are Gods in embryonic form, to be "born again" at the resurrection. This view is very similar to Mormonism.

They deny the Christian doctrine of the Trinity, declaring it to be pagan. The reality is that their view is polytheistic, and thus pagan, as they assert that there are two separate god beings, God the Father and Jesus Christ. It is also a blasphemous view, as God is unique, uncreated, and alone worthy of worship. Claiming that the redeemed will join the Godhead is blasphemous. The redeemed reflect the character of God like a mirror reflects light, but they will never be the Light; only a mirror.

The author of this book twisted more scriptures than a prosperity gospel preacher. I would advise nobody who is new to the Christian faith to read this book. This book can easily deceive you if you are not knowledgeable in the scriptures. One very important scripture in the Bible that was somehow ignored in this book was what Jesus said to the criminal on the cross. Jesus stated "TODAY you will be with me in Paradise". Notice that Jesus didn't say 1,000 years from now or when I return. But he said TODAY. Be careful when reading this book.

I don't recommend this book to anyone. My Bible clearly States to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Need the holy ghost to show you clear. Jesus said I go to prepare a place for you if it were not so I would have told you. Our body remains at a sleep state and our spirit goes either to heaven or a burning hell as soon as we die. One day our spirit will reunight with a brand new body.

This book takes Bible verses out of context in many places and kept me scratching my head. I don't know how they interpreted Bible verses to mean some of the things they claim in the book. In my opinion as a Christian, this book is full of rubbish.

I will admit that I read this book from beginning to end. I did so in the hope that the author would refer to other scriptures which give the point of view that I have believed for all of my Christian life (since I was a young child). There are a number of places in the HOLY BIBLE, but there is one passage that tells me that when I die, if that is before CHRIST returns. That passage is at JESUS' crucifixion; "42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when Thou comest into Thy Kingdom. 43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with Me in paradise. 44 And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour." Luke 23:42-44 (KJV), and it reads with the same meaning in ALL other versions of Holy Scripture. I do not believe that this man's writing to be anymore than the perspective of his chosen Christian denomination. He will be surprised when he dies that he got to heaven sooner than he had expected.
