If you want to get the essence of the author's "wisdom," save your money and watch the cheesy motivational speakers on any given PBS Pledge Month. At least Feldman attributes and quotes two of them: Les Brown and Brian Tracy. All that's missing here is some Zig Ziglar, Tom Hopkins, and Tony Robbins. It seems that Mr. Feldman has all the secrets to losing weight, starting a business that makes millions, getting a job you love, and ensuring a life of perfect health. This is tired brain-dead pablum with a few references to current economic times-- probably included as a feeble effort to differentiate it from the rest of the genre.

The motivational speaker that he really should acknowledge is P.T. Barnum: I feel like a total sucker for buying it.

Jim continues to hit home runs with his insight and knowledge of what works and doesn't work. His creativity and thought processes continue to amaze me and how simple the real solutions can be. Everyone needs this book from the point of view of continuous personal development. Most of the employments problems today are due to a lack of personal responsibility to upgrade your skills and knowledge. Follow Jim's outline to gaining a future advantage and add value to yourself and others.

James Feldman is an amazing man and his brilliance comes through in his writing. If you are looking for someone to hold your hand and tell you things will be all right--read something else. However, if you truly seek the kind of help and expertise that will assist you in implementing the changes you need, want, and desire to make--get this book! I highly recommend this book for every business person that wants to improve their revenue while lowering their costs. I also highly recommend this book for all individuals that want more, better, faster, in their lives. -Ed Rigsbee, Author, Developing Strategic Alliances

James Feldman's Shift Happens is full of anecdotes, encouragement, a little cheer-leading & excellent wisdom. As the old way of doing business rapidly shifts, a new form or many new forms will emerge, change, stabilize & change again. This gem focuses on looking at change as the only constant & how to read the currents like an expert. I also like the small tips about living simply, not seeking status symbols & living within one's means. Connection, community, neighborliness & a little optimism have been missing from the American landscape for a long time. Perhaps these grim economic times will take us to a familiar place where we see each other again, where we can bloom where we are planted & grow as unique, connected human beings. Isn't that the essence of the human experience? Thanks, Jim, for a much sought after gem. Damiano de Sano Iocovozzi

I read the book based on previous reviews. It was certainly time well spent. I can't recall the last time I read something so inspiring and insightful. The various checklists and chapters were easy to follow and got me thinking about my own situation and how to face the Shifts in it. I am so thankful that someone has written a book that is relevant to today and the times we are in. There truly is still opportunity in America. Now I have a roadmap to get passionate about what I want to do with the rest of my life.

Jim Feldman's Shift Happens! should be required reading for everyone in business. Surviving and thriving in this new economy demand that we are ready, willing and able to reinvent ourselves time and time again. This book not only helps you figure out what you need to do, but how you can actually get it done. Kudos to Jim. I highly recommend this book.

Shift Happens is a practical and poignant reminder on how to "pick yourself up AND think outside the box". Great book- I hope Mr. Feldman will write a follow up- and I look forward to hearing him speak in person someday. Come to the "Big Apple" Jim!
