I'm a fairly passive wrestling fan, and I didn't know much about Jericho when I got the first Fozzy album, except that his in-ring antics, like when he railed into Stephanie McMahon, reminded me of a young Ted Nugent. Despite my lack of wrestling knowledge about Y2J, I loved that this guy was doing covers of Krokus, Twisted Sister, and Judas Priest songs that I never thought anyone still listened to. So now, two years later, I picked up Happenstance and I love it! I thought the original songs might be a bit soft, but they're actually well-written and are a good touch to the cover tunes. Speaking of covers, they redo songs by Iron Maiden, the Scorpions, Judas Priest, and even WASP. I think their cover of "Mob Rules" is better than the original Sabbath/Dio version. The Stuck Mojo backup band sounds great, the production comes through a lot more on this album, with really punchy drums and excellent lead guitar tone. And Jericho can actually SING! He's taking on Rob Halford and Bruce Dickinson leads like it was no problem! I didn't get into the whole fake band/history thing, and I haven't seen the bonus video as I don't have a Windows computer at home, but overall, I think this will stay in the player for the rest of the summer and beyond.
