5.0 out of 5 stars Freaky! But it works like a charm
This cd has saved my voice from shusshing and the vacuum from excessive wear. It works better than any other sounds- but only if used with a number of the other 5 S's mentioned in Dr Karp's video/book. The first track (of three) sounds a bit like it is out of a horror movie- I expect passers-by to look in my living room window and see Jason or Chuckie! The other two...

3.0 out of 5 stars Love the method, just not this CD
First, let me say that I LOVE the Happiest Baby methods. They worked like an absolute dream with our baby, who is a great sleeper to this day (3 years later!).

However, I HIGHLY recommend a different CD - For Crying Out Loud! is simply tracks of different types of 'household' white-noise. The washing machine, rain and windshield wipers, maternal heartbeat,...

The other two tracks are a bit more mellow, and my husband is even calmed by the third track!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great in conjunction with the book., August 28, 2005

This is a good CD to use in conjunction with the book. I had trouble getting the 'white noise' on my local radio frequency and this CD helped a lot. My son even used it after he had outgrown some of the other techniques. It works best for younger babies though. If you want to use it, I would start it pretty soon after you get home from the hospital. If it is not part of their bedtime routine by 3 months, it won't work.

5.0 out of 5 stars WORKS GREAT!, September 12, 2005

Our first daughter was colicky so we tried to be prepared for the second. Although our second daughter was not colicky we used the CD anyway. When she was about 3 months old we quit using it but over a month later our babysitter couldn't get her to stop crying when she put her to bed so she put the CD on. She was quiet immedietly, apparently she still remembered the sound! She's now a year old and when we turn the CD on she knows it's time to sleep, she calms down as soon as she hears it. We primarily used track 3 and that is all we use now. We keep it on all night and at nap times, it blocks out the other noises in the house and our 3 year old. When anyone hears the sound over our monitor they joke that it sounds like an alien space movie or something, it's not white noise, more of a womb/heartbeat sound.

However, I HIGHLY recommend a different CD - For Crying Out Loud! is simply tracks of different types of 'household' white-noise. The washing machine, rain and windshield wipers, maternal heartbeat, and our fave: the vacuum cleaner!

I discovered it after a desperate search for fear of burning out the motor on our vacuum cleaner (which worked like an off-switch for my baby!). We simply played it on repeat in the nursery whenever she slept.

Worked much better for us. The different tracks allow for different preferences in pitch and speed of the white-noise.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Sanity Saver!!!, April 5, 2005

When we purchased this CD, my husband and I were desperate. Our daughter would not go down to bed at night. She cried for hours! We did not know what else to do. We bought this based upon reviews of other parents. When we received it, we thought all of that "woosh woosh woosh" would never work. We were wrong!!! It worked for us the first night. It helps our daughter calm down and get to sleep. And if she wakes up in the middle of the night, we put it back on and it helps her to get back to sleep quickly. We would not be without this CD.

This CD didn't just help my baby, but helped me sleep better. I can't remember the last time I slept so hard. The baby likes it and falls asleep much faster with it, and I find that I sleep much more soundly when it's on. If I get up in the middle of the night, I make sure to put the sounds back on so I drop off quicker. Love this!

5.0 out of 5 stars A baby bag must have, February 24, 2006

This review is from: The Happiest Baby "Super-Soothing" Calming Sounds CD (Audio CD)
The DVD gives you a sample but having the CD is the way to go. This allows you to take the sounds that WILL put the baby to sleep with you in the car, to the inlaws, to the babysitter--you name it. We grab it for the baby bag as we would the diapers and wipes! It will help you get and keep sitters because the baby will sleep thanks to these sounds for whoever is watching him.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best! Absolutely a must have!, January 9, 2007

I cannot rave enough about this CD! It truly works and has worked with every baby I know (a great gift) It takes some getting used to for the adult but if you crank it up enough for the baby to hear (over their crying) it works like magic! I kept this cd in my car until my daughter was 1, a must have for every new baby! The book is great too!

5.0 out of 5 stars The miracle cure for fussiness and crying!, August 18, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This CD is a must have for any new or experienced mother. I have a 5-week old baby girl that has a tough time falling asleep soundly, she'll wake up after 10-15 minutes every time! I always have to get her to sleep in my arms, and then pat her for a while after I put her down because she gets fussy again. Now, I can put her down all fussy (making sure that she is fed and has a clean diaper on) and she goes to sleep by herself instantly!!!! I believe I have been saved from loosing my mind thanks to this CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars amazing results, March 21, 2007
i had a very colicky baby from 2 weeks old to 10 weeks old and this was the best cd of all the ones i tried (classical, lullabye, ocean sounds, television, etc) to calm my baby and most importantly, to keep him sleeping longer. the last track was his favorite, the sound of the rain. he sleeps so much longer now that i play that track on "repeat" all night long. and i can get things done during his naps because the rain sound covers up the noise of me in the kitchen, etc. And, when he is really cranky and there's nothing else i can do for him, i can put him down in his bed and play the whole cd from start to finish and it calms him and puts him to sleep 75% of the time, which is a huge improvement from other attempts.
