I must say that this is one of the funniest shows ever aired. Fran Drescher is awesome As ALWAYS!! In this season, she brought "The Nanny" back with her. Guest Stars include Charles Shaughnessy (Mr. Sheffield) , and Renee' Taylor (The lovely Sylvia Fine.) This show will NEVER compare to "The Nanny" but any True Fran Fan will add this masterpeice to your collection.

I have to say that this is up to snuff compared to The Nanny. Fran is wonderful as always but this cast will have you peeing your pants they are all so comical and just funny in nature. And for the reccord I find it astonishing how this is based on what really happend and that Fran and her ex are still really good friends. So in short you will not regret buying the First Season of Happily Divorced!!!!!!!

After the overnight success of "Hot In Cleveland" in 2010, TV Land tried to score another hit by putting a proven sitcom favorite into a new vehicle: in this case Fran Drescher. In the ultimate example of art imitating life, they take Fran's real-life experience of having her long-time husband come out as gay and turn it into sitcom fodder. Even though all the writers of "The Nanny" were drafted, it lacks the warmth and heart of Fran's previous series. Even the opening credits reflect this, whereas "The Nanny" featured a colorful montage of animated Fran getting kicked out "on her fanny" etc. here all we have are a couple of stick figures, which is all too telling. In today's sitcom world, where most shows only run 20 minutes if that, there's very little time for character development as all the dialogue is usually scripted to propel the plot. So "Happily Divorced" ends up being a series of jokes and sight gags. That's not to say it's bad--it has a lot of cute moments, but (like "Hot In Cleveland" IMO) it's still missing that certain something.

There are several fun references to "The Nanny" and both Renee Taylor and Charles Shaughnessy guest star (Shaughnessy's episode as a bisexual writer is perhaps the season's best). Lou Diamond Phillips ("La Bamba") shows up looking smoking hot and Jennifer Holliday ("Dreamgirls") has a fun cameo.

Fran is as appealing as ever and for a 54-year-old woman she looks AMAZING in this. Yes, she's gained weight since "The Nanny" but she looks REAL, not plastic or anorexic and botoxed like many of her contemporaries (Demi Moore eat your heart out). I actually think she looks better now with a voluptuous Marilyn Monroe figure than she did in the '90s. Fans of Fran will still find her as endearing and entertaining as ever, but for the sad state of current sitcoms, this is as good as it gets I suppose.

FOUR STARS.

Fran is definitely NOT "The Nanny" in this show, but this isn't terrible either. Petey (John Michael Higgins) plays the gay ex- husband who lives in the garage still in the same place as Fran. This season was very good because she did, however, bring the cast of The Nanny back with her. It would be Nice if Shout! Factory would buy the rights to Seasons 4-6 from Sony of "The Nanny", and release them! We are getting old here!!!!!!!!!! But, buy Season one of HD. It's worth watching I think.

I was a big fan of the Nanny when it was on the air, but I would have to say that I like this show even better. The fact that it even has Ernie from the George Lopez show only makes it better. I can't wait to buy Season 2.

Having enjoyed "The Nanny Series" even as the series endlessly repeats on my screen, I wondered why "Happily Divorced" has not aired on television in Hawaii. Having looked at a little more than half the series, I understand. This ain't "The Nanny." Fran Dresher's husband admits he's gay. They divorce but continue to live together, neither one dates other people successfully.......over and over again. So far the plot hasn't changed and has become rather redundant. Looking forward to seeing the rest.

Before I get too critical here, just let me say that I absolutely adore Fran Drescher as a person, and even after all these years still consider The Nanny to be one of the greatest and most innovative sitcoms to ever hit the airwaves. She's a comedic genius and even though she may not quite be the household name she once was, I stand by my claim that she really is the Lucille Ball of a new generation. In spite of all that, however, I have to be honest and say that I'm less than impressed with her latest television project, Happily Divorced.

The premise sounded promising - Fran's husband Peter comes to the realization that he is gay, they get divorced, but continue to be friends and live together while each trying to rebuild their own separate love lives again from the bottom up. Perfect setup for hilarious hijinks, right? Sort of. The problem is, that premise only really works for the first two or three episodes, maximum, and simply isn't enough to carry a full series and keep viewers tuning in to see what happens next. Every episode follows the same basic structure and recycles the same predictable jokes, and while we don't necessarily need a continuing soap opera plotline week to week, it would be nice to feel a sense of purpose as though it were going somewhere or building towards something bigger. As it is the first ten episodes play out as one long pilot more than anything else. Drescher is charming as always, so I suspect this is likely a case of the writers not giving her enough to go on and not utilizing her talents to their full potential.

I also have to take issue with the character of Peter, the gay ex-husband.
