This is a very informative guide to developing a better resume. A few years ago I had a resume professionally prepared at no small expense. It was very well prepared but was dated and I wanted to update it. Rather than pay someone to do the work, I elected to do it myself. I bought this book and followed many of the suggestions the author recommended. The completed resume was shorter in length but offered more pertinent information on my abilities than my old professionally prepared resume. When I sent it to my executive search firm for review and use, they responded with the comment that it was one of the best executive resume's they have ever recieved.

Direct, action oriented, easy to read and not a book full of buzz words that don't really mean anything - This book focused on the concrete not the cliche. Even if you THINK you know it all you might need a reminder.

Shut Up! and Listen to Yourself

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is considering drafting or revising their resume. I honestly wish I had come across something this easy to read when I came out of college a few years ago as it likely would have made my job search easier. Reading this book on my Kindle app has given me a number of ideas to incorporate into my resume and I can already see a dramatic improvement. I never really thought that much about highlighting my accomplishments due to fear of coming across as boasting but Ms. Safani wrote logical responses to ease the concerns I had. I definitely feel more confident about sending my resume out to companies and recruiters should the need arise.

Barbara Safani has put together the MOST relevant and updated resume writing book I have seen on the market. She also has gathered some excellent examples from my peers. If you are planning on writing your own resume, you NEED this book!

This is one of my favorite resume books. Barbara presents 50 tips to help a resume sing, and gives examples taken from real resumes. Anyone who does their own resume needs to have this book opened next to them as they work on their resume, and the final product will be way better than what they could come up with on their own (incorporating best practices while avoiding common mistakes).

Everyone has an opinion when it comes to writing a resume, but Safani hits all the key points and compiled the best of advice out there in a clear and concise way. This is a must-read for people from all professions at all levels. This book allows the reader to position their experience in the very best possible way to open the doors to the right opportunities. Safani is a leader in her field.
