5.0 out of 5 stars Ashanti returns with another stunning song!
Ashanti is back! Following up the success of "Foolish" and the many collabarations she's done, she is back with her second solo single "Happy".

"Happy" is an uplifting song, very upbeat with cute lyrics. Ashanti is happy she found her man, and the song is very well made, with a cool intro done by main rap man Ja Rule.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wow! It's Atrocious.
My gut feeling is that Ashanti spends more time at the Burberry and Louis Vuitton boutiques than in the studio. Her success is credited to aggressive hype, product positioning, and a talented marketing team. The single itself is good value. It includes the album version of "Happy" (it's not that much different from the radio edit), the main reason I bought the single. Also you get an album track titled "Call". It's hip hop, very dancy and upbeat. You also get a remix of "Happy" and the video. The video is cute, with Ashanti and her girlfriends hanging out and then going to the hairdressers. Then Ashanti performs at a concert dedicated to her. Very cool video.

Overall, a cool single that shows off Ashanti's talent. She will go far!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a song..., November 10, 2002
This review is from: Happy (Audio CD)
Ashanti's debut smash 'Ashanti' produced a #1 hit single 'Foolish'. Great to listen to one in a while, but it dried out very quickly. 'Happy' though--wow. What a song. Ashanti gets some upbeat rhythms and although the words are very simple, I can never get enough of this song. Hate on her if you desire, but Ashanti is coming out as one of R&B's most promising artists. My only complaint is that's it's not exactly full-blooded R&B. If this song was a little calmer and showed more of a vocal range, it couldn't be rated on a scale of 1-5 in a million years.

My gut feeling is that Ashanti spends more time at the Burberry and Louis Vuitton boutiques than in the studio. Her success is credited to aggressive hype, product positioning, and a talented marketing team. The songs have no regard for originality, depth, or innovation, and they're cleverly packaged for ignorant, ghetto children who gaze at the television watching "106 & Park." Her singles, like this one, are played to [much] on the radio, and they blare out of towering, life-size speakers at these trendy hip hop clubs. She accepts awards named after well-established divas, even though she hasn't established herself as an artist and doesn't even possess any real stage presence... People, the madness must stop, and we have the power to control the fate of popular music. Let's shun product like this, and break away from our comfort zones by recognizing the truly talented artists out there. This single ain't doin' it for me at all.

3.0 out of 5 stars JUST BUY THE ALBUM, June 18, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Happy (Audio CD)
The tracklisting includes Happy and Call, + a remix of Happy. Happy and Call are both on the album ASHANTI. The remix of Happy is excellent, but it's not worth the money if only 1/3 of the songs are what you haven't heard. My reccomendation is to just buy the album (which is great!) and leave off the remix. If you're an Ashanti superfan, then I'd reccomend it to you, but its just an expensive 3-track single. You get the album for just a few bucks more. Please take my reccomendation. The video is also included, which raised my original rating from 2 stars to 3. The new album CHAPTER II is coming out on July 1, so watch out for that also! Hope my reccomendation was helpful to you.

4.0 out of 5 stars A positive influence in my life...., November 19, 2002
This review is from: Happy (Audio CD)
Ashanti may not be Aaliyah, but I believe Ashanti has found her own new sound in the song 'Happy'. It's very upbeat and in typical R&b Style has a catchy hook that you cant get out of your head. Happy is the kind of song that gets you just there, Happy. Even if you don't like this immediately it will grow on you.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad., September 22, 2002

Although I usually enjoy Ashanti's music, I'd have to say her single "Happy" holds a spot as one of her worst songs. It has a slow boring beat and airy, echoing vocals. It samples Gap Band's "Outstanding", but oh well, what do you expect? Also, this single also includes "Call", her album's WORST track. Please, for your own good, skip this.

Ashanti is a great artist and "Happy" is one of her best tracks. This cd-single features the hit song as well as hot remix with some of her labelmates. If you liked the track or a fan of Ashanti this is a must. It also includes her hit video!
