This is a great collection of birth stories that are mostly unassisted, husband deliveries. Many also have a great Christian stand point. If you are curious about husband/wife childbirth or homebirth in general this book will give you great insite and leave you with a wonderful feeling. Having had my last two children at home, and currently waiting for my next to arrive , I can say this book not only presented me with new ideas but also was very inspirational.

If you like birth stories- this is a great book. The only problem I had with this book was the quality!!! The publishing of the cover, binding, and type were probably done at someone's home. Provides a good solid approach to childbirth as a normal event, and emphasis is placed on the choice of these couples to go unassisted. (without midwives or doctors)

this collection is excellent for the couple who are considering unassisted homebirth. the accounts are both informational and inpirational.

This book (which is self-published) is a wonderful boost to any mother considering unassisted birth. The stories are heart-warming and thrilling! I would like to say, in response to the reviewer below, that yes, many women and children did suffer and die in childbirth before the advent of our modern age - but the reasons for the lowered numbers of infant and mother mortality aren't due to hospitals and medical births; in fact they have been attributed to our better understanding of nutrition and hygiene in society in general. Some researches say that if not for routine hospital and medical intervention in normal births, our mortality rates would be even lower! There are very few births which truly need to be medically monitored and require a hospital delivery; for those that do need it, there is no condemnation in this book. This book is written for those whose pregnany is normal and who deserve to know that the safest place for a normal birth is in your own home, with your partner.

Call me mainstream, but the stories in this book didn't make sense to me. In the years before medical births, many women and babies died. Yes, birth is a natural process, but that does not automatically make it safe, or easy. I felt the stories were too critical of "the mainstream" and just a bit too far out on the edge. Pregnant women are going through enough already without feeling the disapproval of both the mainstream medical establishment AND the hard-core "organic" anti-establishment. ALL our choices should be supported, including those of us who truly believe it is safer to have our children in a hospital.
