1.0 out of 5 stars If your a 12 year old girl this is the book for you!
This book is basically a child's book for you to color rainbows and write down things you already know as cheesy prompts. Complete waste of money! I can color pictures and write down obvious things without buying a book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly What You'd Want from a Book Called The Happy Book, November 16, 2009

I picked this book up in a store on a whim, and was immediately charmed by its sincere and original approach to the topic of happiness. More a workbook than a dissertation, The Happy Book is full of thoughtful and quirky activities and exercises designed to keep you focused on the positive. The authors mention in the introduction that the idea for the book sprung from a conversation with a friend going through a hard time, where someone suggested that she keep a list of things that make her happy. That pretty much captures the idea behind the whole book--a collection of what makes the authors (and their friends and family happy). I also enjoyed the whimsical illustrations throughout and the fact that it's printed in purple ink (that personally made me very happy). The message of seeking happiness from within, rather than looking for it on the action end of store register was subtle but poignant, and particularly meaningful at this time of year. So now I'm ordering copies for my friends for Christmas. I think in a year that's been this hard, everyone could use a little extra happiness.

5.0 out of 5 stars Happy for the happy book!, November 23, 2009
This review is from: The Happy Book (Paperback)
Oh my gosh! What a fantastic idea! This is a chance to really stop and think about happiness. We don't do that. We are all so busy that sometimes we forget to be happy!! This is a wonderful chance to craft, write, reflect, cook and remember those moments when we laughed so hard our sides hurt....or cried from sheer joy. I am grateful to the authors for making me stop and capture those moments forever.

I went to the book store during lunch on a particularly crumby day at work and found this book waiting for me as if it knew I needed it. I bought it on a whim and am so happy that I did! It's such a fun book with happy stories and empty spaces with prompts and exercises to add your own happiness to it. It really does make me happier. Work still sucks, but at least I can look forward to reading and writing my way through the book on the train ride home.

4.0 out of 5 stars So much fun!, February 3, 2011

I've had the book for about a month and I've had fun filling out the pages and sharing it with friends and family. Its great for those of us who need an excuse to let our inner kid out once in a while but don't because its not appropriate or "cool". I forgot how much I loved stickers! I just let the cashier at the dollar store think I had a little niece I was buying them for.

If I'd never used this book I wouldn't have been inspired to give my friend (who is going through a break up) a jar of hot pink play dough instead of the usual platitudes. This book would be a great gift for someone in a similar situation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tickles the soul, November 18, 2009
This review is from: The Happy Book (Paperback)
I keep this book on hand for moments when I need a quick pick-me-up or a dose of the warm fuzzies. It's a beautifully designed, thoughtfully written collection of things that make the writers happy -- coconut cupcakes, red socks, and favorite tunes. Extremely personal stuff, but wonderfully universal as well. I highly recommend this delightful book

5.0 out of 5 stars The Happy Book is great, December 22, 2011

This is such an awesome book. It's quite reminiscent of Keri Smith's books: Wreck this Journal and This is Not a Book. So I was quite pleased to see that Keri Smith had been quoted in this book, which is awesome. This is truly a "happy book" if you are feeling down just open to a random page and it will definitely get your mind off of things.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pink book!, February 14, 2011
This review is from: The Happy Book (Paperback)
I bought this book in December of 2009, and "finished" it in February of 2011. It isn't finished, really; there are pages I ignored and skipped over, but it represents a chapter in my life that is now over that this book helped me through. I had so much fun writing, pasting in pictures, stickers, keepsakes, and letters. I had several of my closest friends write lists of things that make them happy, and they gave them to me for my book. It is a wonderful thing to have, and I'm so glad I did it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Think of a wonderful Thought, any happy little thought......., April 1, 2010
This review is from: The Happy Book (Paperback)
Think of rainbows think of spring.....

This book is AMAZING my best friend bought one for me after her therapist recommended it for her. I am not usually a "self help" kind of girl, but this book is the best thing to land in my lap in a long time- from creating you ideal dinner party to doing a cupcake crawl this book reminds you and forces you to actually be involved in, the simplest thing, BEING HAPPY. Like the color Pink??? fill a page with every shade you adore. Think of 10 things that make you happy, see if you can stop there. I am half way through Happy Book number 1 and plan to buy another when I am done- Bravo Rachel and Meg!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE, January 25, 2010

This is a perfect book to carry around with you and just glance through when you're having a bad day or just simply stressed out. After flipping through a few pages during my lunch break at work, my mood is lifted after listing my favorite smells or my favorite little things in nature.

This journal/book has all kinds of fun ideas (make your own scout badge!) and uplifting quotes throughout its pages. I even bought a copy for my best friend so we could compare our happy pages when we see each other again.
