Book Description

October 11, 1999
In The Happy Cooker, Iris Nathan has woven excerpts from her earthy "day-in-the-life" newspaper column with her kitchen tested recipes into a book that is both informative and fun. From appetizers to desserts, salads to entrees, Iris' user-friendly style provides a unique roadmap to healthy food. She'll even make you laugh along the way.

Iris has spent her life dedicated to making and even more importantly eating great tasting food. She wrote this book to shatter the stigma that tasty food equals unhealthy ingredients. The Happy Cooker acquaints the reader with ways of converting their favorite "secret" recipes into delicious lower fat, lower calorie entrees, desserts and more.

Nathan's goal is to inspire her readers to use the techniques to achieve their own healthy, tasty results.

There are ten full color index pages with pictures of recipes found in the particular section that follows.

Editorial Reviews

Review

Iris Nathan's culinary skills are renowned throughout Southeast Texas. Recipes for her delightful dishes have been a staple of The Beaumont Enterprise Food Page for years -- Aubrey L. Webb, Publisher, The Beaumont Enterprise, Oct. 1, 1999

From the Author

I have been a columnist, teacher, caterer and evangelist of great tasting healthy food for the past 30 years. I have been dedicated to overcoming the notion that great tasting food can't be good for you. My column, The Happy Cooker, has been running weekly in the Beaumont, Texas Enterprise, a Hurst newspaper, since 1995.

I have taught numerous courses on cooking from teenagers to adults as well as television appearances promoting that great food can have healthy ingredients.
