My daughter had been obsessed with the Sparkle and Shimmer series since she was 9 months. She loves to touch all the different textures. The pictures and text are all simple and appealing. We never get tired of these books and have read them about 10000 times!

Adorable book which I gave to my daughter for easter. I think she really enjoys all the textures displayed; I know I do. I wish I had this book as a child. And its short in sweet, enough text and pictures to capture the minds of infants on up.

I purchased this and one other Easter books for my neices for Easter. The book is sturdy, colorful, and fun. Since my neices are quite young I look for nice, high-quality board books for them such as this book. They hold up much better than paper books and are easy for the little hands to hold onto. The added textures that are on each page of this book are a nice added feature and make it more interactive for little ones. Easter books and other speciality books of this quality can sometimes be hard to find in local stores but I know that I can usually count on Amazon to have what I need.

ISBN 0689853114 - Manufactured in China. "Warning: Choking Hazard. Small Parts. Not for children under 3 years." This is such a cute little book that I couldn't imagine that I'd end up giving it just three stars. There's no religious message here, but there is a rebirth / new life theme, which makes it appropriate to a large audience, but it's got some problems.

Easter themes from bonnets to baskets to baby creatures and winter's end, are celebrated in simple rhymes.

This series of books is called "Sparkle 'n' Shimmer", not "touch and feel" - for a reason. This isn't about textures, it's about sparkly stuff. In a book about textures, the textures are identified in the text with words like "rough" and "smooth" and "fluffy", but none of those are found here. The inset items are made of various shiny bits, but not identified by texture. As if that's not odd enough for you, the book is marked as a choking hazard for children under 3. Board books are generally for kids under 3, but this one excludes them. I don't see children OVER 3 being too excited by this title, but they're the target audience.

The illustrations, by Salina Yoon, are vibrantly colored and cover every inch of every page. They have some detail, but not an overwhelming amount, keeping the attention on the inset shiny parts and the text. Author Michelle Knudsen's text is all right, though nothing special. The racial and age diversity of the people in the illustrations is a nice touch. The book is cute, I'm just not sure who, among the appropriate age group, will enjoy it. The series includes Merry Christmas (Sparkle 'n' Shimmer), Happy Halloween (Sparkle 'n' Shimmer), Valentine's Day: A Sparkle 'n' Shimmer Book, and Love (Sparkle N Shimmer).
