I HAVE HEARD MANY CRITICAL COMMENTS ABOUT THIS DOLL....MOST OBVIOUSLY, HER PREGNANCY. I HAVE SEEN THIS DOLL PULLED FROM SHELVES, AND SOLD WITH A BIG BELLY, AND WITH A FLAT BELLY. I CONSIDERED IT LAST CHRISTMAS, BUT THIS YEAR I DECIDED TO PURCHASE HER, BECAUSE PREGNANCY IS A BEAUTIFUL THING. I DO NOT FEEL THAT IT IS A BAD INFLUENCE ON YOUNG MINDS, BECAUSE EVERYONE HAS SEEN SOMEONE PREGNANT BEFORE.
I HAVE ALSO INVESTED IN THIS ENTIRE SERIES, AND LOOK FORWARD TO PRESENTING IT TO MY 6 YR. OLD.

Midge is very fun and she has red hair.She is my FAVORITE DOLL!
Myscene are cool too but I realy like Midge. She even has a MAGNETIC TUMMY WHERE THE BABY STAYS!That is my fave part.She is SO COOL!And if you hesitate(I hope I spelled that right)to buy, than they even have a baby and Midge witch is the same dolls but without the tummy at stores.The ONLY PROBLEM is that her color under her hair is comeing off.She has cute little frecles too!

Hi my name is Lindsey I am 11 years old I absolutely LOVE this toy! Even though people think it is so nasty that a barbie doll has a baby well it is not.And what is up with people telling their little ones that babies come from stores or were dropped down from the sky by a stork I mean come on people.It also teaches kids responsibility and to nurture and care for a baby.

I say this set is an absolute buy!

I got this set two christmases ago and I absolutely love it!! I think that it is really cool that you can put the baby inside the tummy and pretend that she is pregnant. Midge is a very pretty doll and very fun to play with. The baby stuff that comes with her is way cool too. I like how the baby bathtub slides in and out of the sleves. I also like all the differant kinds of toys for the baby to play with. One of my favorite things in this is set is the cute bassinet. I love this toy and I am pretty sure any little girl would. I hope that this review helped, considering that there are a lot of bad reivews about it.

They had this toy at my old school- She is lovely, and the accessories are so cute! She is a "Must-have" for any Barbie fan, young or old. (Even if you don't want to take the doll out of the box she is great to just look at and admire)

My daughter was 5 when she received Midge and the Dr Barbie (also a Happy Family product, I believe) and over a year later they are still a hit. I've purchased the Grandparent dolls for her as well as Alan and Ryan. The tiny pieces are easily lost, so we play on a clear space and put them all into their box when done.
I know of the controversy surrounding a pregnant Barbie doll, but for us pregnancy is an aspect of life. Midge does have a wedding band. Her husband, Alan, is sold seperately. I feel that allowing my children to role play this aspect of life, as any other will only help them to sort out their thoughts and feelings.
It would be a perfect gift for an older child expecting a new sibling. And a great gift for any other child.

WHY WOULD ANY LITTLE GIRL WANT TO BECOME A REAL MOTHER! TELL ME! HOW MANY LITTLE GIRLS DO YOU KNOW OF WOULD WANT THAT? IF THEY DID DREAM OF BECOMING MOTHERS - WHICH IS NOT ONLY CUTE, BUT RATHER NURTURING, AND INNOCENT AS WELL - THEY'D BUY PLASTIC TOY BABIES! DUH! I DID! AND NOTHING BAD HAPPENED TO ME. I THINK MIDGE IS A BETTER ROLE MODEL THAN BARBIE ANYDAY. THAT BLONDE SLUT IS NOTHING BUT AN AIRHEAD WHO BECOMES OBSESSED WITH FASHION AND BOYS. LOOK AT MY SCENE! SAME GOES FOR BRATZ. MIDGE IS DECENT, MARRIED MOTHER, WHO WORRIES ABOUT MAINTAINING A FAMILY! BRATZ AND BARBIE HAVE SEDUCED GIRLS INTO WANTING TO BECOME HOOCHIE-MAMAS. FACE THE FACTS, PEOPLE! MIDGE WILL ONLY INSPIRE GIRLS TO DREAM OF BEING DECENT MOTHERS! THERE! MIDGE IS BETTER!

I think that when my daughter's two boy cousins (5 & 7 1/2) see this they will want to play with it too (they play "my little pony" and "strawberry shortcake" together already - much to my SIL's chagrin). It would be a great way for a boy to learn about where babies come from, if the dad would be willing. I have seen some reviewers say they bought this for their sons only to have dad come home and say "no dolls for my boy".

I got this toy in Aug for X-Mass because I noticed that pregnant Midge was on the outs and they were doing Midge & Baby instead. I wanted this doll for my daughter since I saw it (she was only a few months old at the time). The grandparents are getting the "Grandma's kitchen" set (with the first Grey haired Barbies, more YEAHS for the Happy Family line) and the Aunt is getting her the Alan & Ryan set. This will reflect her own home & family - lots of people who love each other and are happy.

It is a very good way of talking about the "birds and the bees" with very young children (she turns 4 in mid Jan). I believe in having a frank open discussion with your kids about everything: drugs, smoking, drinking and yes even sex (!) FROM AN EARLY AGE!!!

Ever wonder why your kids turn 13 and never want to believe a word you say? Maybe it has to do with our culture's obsession with sheltering kids from "adult" things.

When they are pre-teens and teens it's to late to start talking to then because their friends & media have already given them faulty information. You have to start at an early age, so they already have the facts and no one can fool them into thinking they will be cool if the smoke, drink, do drugs or have sex (which a lot of pre-teen girls do just to "fit in"). IF they know about sex and "good touch, bad touch" it also makes them less likely to be victims of predators.

The only concern I have is that the pregnant belly will get lost or stepped on and the baby needs to be kept track of rather well (4 stars for durability). I also purchased that fashion set that included a baby sling (how awesome is that?) and plan to show my daughter that that's where the baby stays. I will also show her that babies get their milk from mommies and the bottles are for daddy & grandparents when mommy is working or away from baby.

I have only good things to say about the PREGNANT Midge & BABY Nikki set!! If you can still find this set, I recommend this OVER the Midge & Nikki set that has a toddler and no pregnant belly.
