5.0 out of 5 stars Diamond in the Rough, March 9, 2003
This review is from: Happy Fuck You Songs (Audio CD)
If you are a lover of hip-hop, and you appreciate lyrics filled with thought and wit, then this album is for you. I can't say enough about the album. Instead of talking about each track, I'll speak abou the album in general. I purchased it shortly after 50 cent dropped and I have bumped "Happy ef you" ever since. I like all kinds of hip hop, but it is so rare to find emcees who can blend the purest nature of flowing and wordplay with secular hip-hop attitudes filled with braggadocio and heat. The emcees are vicious. They flip words so effortlessly that you will be forced to listen to songs again and again to get all the punchlines. Far from the Neptunes, Just-blaze, Kanya West, Timbaland, etc., the production is simple boom-bap, but still pleasing to the ear. Lyrics take front stage here, a refreshing breathe of air in an era of production driven hip hop. If you can appreciate lyrical prowess, then buy this album, it will greatly augment your collection of 50, rocafella joints, and Nelly.

5.0 out of 5 stars The album that got me hooked on QN5 Music, May 18, 2005
By
Chris Rhee (San Jose, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Happy Fuck You Songs (Audio CD)
This was the first album I ordered from QN5 Music. Now I'm scurrying to buy every QN5 Music release.

The album title is just... perfect. It's a very fun album.

FYIRB (Remix) is the anthem for emcees or anyone who is sick of horrible music that's flooding the media. Line Drop is a real great experiment of a track (where the flow of the song changes as it goes on -- think Tetris) and Celly is a very well written song about cell phone conversations with bad reception between the four EFAMM members.

The enhanced CD has lyrics, videos of live performances and interviews. I'm glad that QN5 goes through the trouble of including something extra with each release.

My only complaint is that the album is a bit short -- but every track on it is great. Quality over quantity. Now if they would just give us a taste (pause) of the next EFAMM album.

This review is from: Happy Fuck You Songs (Audio CD)
Hip Hop should be fun! and this CD is one of the most enoyable albums I have ever listened to. From fast paced heart pumping tracks like Velocity, to amzing concept tracks like celly and good combination, this album offers something for anyone looking for a good time. Do yourself a favor, and get this album listen to it, then re-listen. The clever lyrics, and
excelent production of this fine piece of artistry should not be overlooked. I highly recomend this album!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars #1, May 11, 2005
This review is from: Happy Fuck You Songs (Audio CD)
I can honestly say that HFYS is my favorite cd ever. When I purchased this cd I had no idea who any of these guys were, or who the QN5 label was for that matter, but with one listen through I became an instant fan. Pack FM, Substantial, Session, and Tonedeff come together *Pause* for the perfect cd. This cd could be sold in the comedy genre as well as hip-hop because of skit characters like squigee, ray chippendale, and osama gin laden. Once you pick this cd up you will never be able to put it down.

This is one of the most creative albums you will ever here. 4 extremely talented artists came together and the result is a good time, entertaining music and a good amount of laughter. I highly suggest buying this.

5.0 out of 5 stars witty, funny, offensive, the works!, May 9, 2005

Ross M "Kami" (Durham, North Carolina) - See all my reviews

Do you like humor? Sure you do! That's the key selling point to this album, it's hilarious! Tracks like FYIRB, Good Combination, Celly, and obligatory posse cut still leave me in stitches. But wait! There's so much more to offer! Some of the songs are just conceptually amazing. Celly is made up entirely of cell phone conversations that get scrambled and constantly misinterpreted. I'm still, to this day, making sense of all the subtleties in this track. Then, after listening to Velocity, you may notice your jaw has sagged to the floor. The Speed tonedeff displays on this song is just amazing. Line Drop is another track that just works on so many levels. The beat is from tetris and as each LINE drops, the beat speeds up a bit until the end of the song when it reaches speeds so blistering PackFM finds himself tounge tied. What more do you want? It's a great album that concludes with Obligatory Posse Cut. This song has like 3/4ths of everybody who's ever even thought about rapping. tonedeff, Substantial, PackFM & Session work beautifully together. Just pick this one up already!

If you don't buy this album for Squijee, you need to get yourself an iguana tail. (See "Substantial Evidence" the LP for Substantial)

5.0 out of 5 stars BUY THIS EP!!!!, April 24, 2003
This review is from: Happy Fuck You Songs (Audio CD)
If you like listening to rhymes that just make you put your fist to your mouth, that this is definitley the record for you. With songs like "FYIRB" (F*** You I Rhyme Better) and "Deadly Combination" and just about every track on the album. Also, the skits on this album are actually FUNNY for a change.
The best part about Extended F@mm is that each person is equally great. There are no people in the group where skip their verse in the song when it comes on. TRUST ME, you should buy this album. Some of the most quotable lines I've ever heard, but I won't quote them hear. YOU'LL HAVE TO BUY THE ALBUM TO FIND OUT.

PEACE!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars **** YOU, I RHYME BETTER!!!, June 8, 2005
This review is from: Happy Fuck You Songs (Audio CD)
the above title says it all...The Extended F@mm CD is a must buy for anybody that appreciated good music with a hit of wit. don't be throw off by the first couple seconds of the intro (ft. squijee)...you'll get everything you could ever want, including the sacred origin of "PAUSE"

just about every track is a gem; from the speedy track velocity, to the creative masterpiece that is celly. all 4 emcee's show their true talent on every track they are on and it clearly shows. i still find myself chucking on some tracks and quoting MANY others. all in all, a SERIOUS must buy...trust me, line's are gonna be SO long, you might have to come in through the back (pause)

p.s: don't wait for a hidden track :)

5.0 out of 5 stars A Barrel Of Laughs, June 6, 2005
This review is from: Happy Fuck You Songs (Audio CD)
From the Intro to where Squigee goes off is just hilarious. Sounds so cute and innocent, but WRONG. He is hardcore, one nobody would dare mess with.

This CD is just great, 4 great emcees in Tonedeff, PackFM, Session and Substantial all wrapped on one cd. Alone they are talented artists, but brought together they still shine. All of the songs are great and have some great punchlines and awesome wordplay. These 4 fit eachother just fine, there is no clashing of eachothers lines and nobody overpowers anybody else. They all bring something unique to the table. Great lyrics accompanied by great beats and hooks. The entire cd is hot and brings back memories from back in the day with such songs as F.Y.I.R.B. Remix. Usually I don't like skits, but having "Pause" was just jokes. Still keeps me laughing today. 4 Different rappers, 4 different styles, 1 group and 1 unique sound. I would recommend this CD to everybody. It really seems like QN5 has a lot of fun with their records and have a great knowledge of how to please their fans. Not many CDs today have lyrics, shows, and interviews. These guys keep their fans well informed and keep a high respect level for their fans and their CDs ooze that. This CD shows everything you could want from a hiphop album and then some

PS - Im waiting for a Squigee solo record
