I got this yesterday and I have already read this whole book. I have the first 3 books and love them. This one is no different in that I love it too! Thank you Lindsay! This book has MANY single serve or recipes for 2. This is both good and bad. Many people I talk to say they want to try eating healthier but there spouse/children are not willing to try. This might be the perfect book for you! But since my husband is a body builder and my 3 kids are on board for Plant Based Meals ... I will be tripling recipes to try these yummy creations. :) This morning I made Ruby Chocolate Muffins for the family - instant hit! I think next to try is the Thai Crunch salad and the Tempeh Bacon for tomorrow morning with Pumpkin Pancakes! If you are new to Plant Based eating ... this book is made with many ingredients you will likely already have in your pantry, if not your local grocery store should have them. Most meals are easy to prepare 30 mins of less. (this is great news for busy family's!) I definitely recommend this book.

I have all of Happy Herbivore's cookbooks, but this may be my favorite! Like all of Lindsay's cookbooks, this is a plant based, no oil, low fat, quick-meals cookbook. The twist with this one is that it's geared to folks who might want to lose weight or achieve certain calorie targets, although the food is healthy and delicious even if you aren't. All of the meals are ginormous and filling and low calorie, even more so than her other books, which still had a lot of lean in them!

Things I love in general about this book:
* Lindsay has a very positive, relatable writing style. It's like talking to a friend.
* The look of the book is very bright and clean, with great graphics and color and tons of high quality photos. It is a very pretty cookbook.
* All the recipes have calorie counts, nutritional details, and WW points if you need them.
* I LOVE LOVE LOVE the part at the beginning where she lists which recipes are in certain calorie ranges. You can see this on the Amazon preview. It is nice because you can do your own meal planning! If you know you want a certain calorie target, you can pick things from each category to make your meal plans.
* I love the recipe categories: breakfasts, baked goods, bowls and wraps (great section!), soups/stews, pastas, burgers, sandwiches/tacos, snacks, and desserts.
* New snack category is awesome! I can't wait to tuck into these recipes. For appetizers, this is perfect.
* I love the drink section. Some warm drinks, some cool, some cocktails. It's a nice touch from HHA and I hope it continues.
* The Lean section is a great touch. The exercises are well thought out and photographed, and provide inspiration and several great ideas for how to incorporate exercise into your daily life.

I am a recent subscriber to Lindsay's meal plans (just bought the special she offered for an entire years' worth!) and am very happy with her new cookbook. I already own Happy Herbivore Abroad and frequently make several dishes out of that cookbook and was looking forward to this new "Light and Lean" one! I've already made the ruby chocolate chip muffins and blueberry yogurt muffins (BTW, used whole wheat flour rather than white whole wheat flour as that's all I had on had but they still came out great!), breakfast tacos (yum! and filling!), and meatloaf bites (had them last night - moist and delicious!). Planning on making several other recipes this week (e.g. thai tacos, BBQ wrap). What I like about Lindsay's cookbooks is when she says the ingredients are things you have on hand in your pantry, she REALLY means it! No crazy spice combos or exotic one-time ingredients and, even though I have a pretty stocked cupboard of 30+ spices, I appreciate that she uses much of the same basic spices throughout her recipes. (It does irk me sometimes when a really awesome looking recipe will call for a teeny bit of a more exotic spice that you will buy and end up NOT using for anything else! None of that in Lindsay's books!). As a side note, I am a frequent purchaser of Chloe Coscarelli and Isa Chandra Moskowitz' cookbooks too and, while those a great great great cookbooks that I absolutely ADORE, I also really appreciate the economical value of Lindsay's plant-based recipes for everyday use! :) Can't wait to buy her next book!

Lindsay Nixon hit another one out of the ball park with this book, just as she did the other three. I am astonished that she continues to come up with new and amazing recipes that are such a hit! It was fantastic to get this book before Thanksgiving as I was able to put it into use and get great reviews! I made the ruby chocolate muffins, which 5 year old Bella pronounced "Better than Delicious. They're Great-licious!" The Lentil Joes are also amazing. And putting a delicious serving in a 100 calorie sandwich round gives an amazing, satisfying 231 calorie lunch! How great is that? And the Skinny Puttanesca? Oh. My. Word. One of the most delicious meals I've ever tasted. I'm looking forward to trying every recipe in this book and I'm sure I will continue to love the results!
