4.0 out of 5 stars Great!
One of the coolest and catchiest albums I've heard in awhile. Loaded with great hooks, you'll start humming and singing along after only a few spins. Overall, most of the songs are very laid back (definitely U.K.'s style), but you can tell they've been jazzed up to be radio hits. 1.0 out of 5 stars What a disappointment!
I love Uncle Kracker but this album is just plain bad ... maybe it's because he's going to far into the country arena for me but I just don't like it. We waited and waited for new music from him and this is what we get? Don't waste your money ...

One of the coolest and catchiest albums I've heard in awhile. Loaded with great hooks, you'll start humming and singing along after only a few spins. Overall, most of the songs are very laid back (definitely U.K.'s style), but you can tell they've been jazzed up to be radio hits. My only gripe is on "Livin' the Dream"... a great song overall, but definitely wrecked by having Kracker's vocals overly processed for the first half of the song.

Definite highlights are: "Smile", "Another Love Song", "Me Again" (a great duet), "My Girlfriend", and "Livin' the Dream".

Definitely the best album Uncle Kracker has released to date.

I buy a lot of music, but this is my favorite of the year! It is refreshing, upbeat, and very "contagious". I cannot stop playing it. Also, you do not have to worry about turning down the volume if the kids come into the room like you did with some of Uncle Kracker's previous work.

When I started hearing "Smile" on the radio, I had to come to Amazon to check out the artist performing the song. I bought the cd on download and I can't tell you how much play this one cd has gotten. It goes with me in the car as I find it to have great feel-good driving music. I play it when I want to have music on around the house...I even have been known to clean around the house to the music. It's even great to dance the vacuum cleaner around during the songs. The songs are well written in the story they tell. The lyrics are well put to the sounds of the music. I've definitely turned into an Uncle Kracker fan, so much so that I've worked backwards to his previous music and downloaded those, too. I'm not big on rap music on a couple of tracks on the various cds releases but there is enough music to enjoy a variety of Uncle Kracker songs.

If you are browsing this cd after hearing "Smile" on the radio, let me encourage you to buy this cd release and get to know Uncle Kracker and his music!

I'm a huge Bob Seeger fan. I have to say at first listen (and subsequent plays) that I found the cover of "Mainstreet" to be very well done. There is a tone about Uncle Kracker in "Mainstreet" that runs close to Seeger and his own performance throughout the years of "Mainstreet". I wouldn't mind hearing Uncle Kracker cover more Seeger tunes on his cds to come.

Between the rock, Motown sound, the country and the rap that Uncle Kracker offers, he is an artist that can provide music entertainment for whatever genre one might be interested in. The only regret I have is opting for this cd over the Deluxe version. I can go back and purchase "Celebrate" and "Josephine"...but unless I want to open the wallet up for basically a re-purchase of a cd download, the one song not available as a single download, "Let Me Love You" may end up going unheard.

I was browsing Wikipedia the other day and learned that Uncle Kracker will be having the 2011 new release. I look forward to next year and getting a new Uncle Kracker cd release on download...I just haven't heard "when" in 2011.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE IT!!!!, April 12, 2010

Uncle Kracker's new CD is totally awesome!!! If you like the song "Smile" you will love the whole CD. He has a great mix of music! My 16 year old son and 20 year old daughter love the CD as much as I do! My brother who is strictly a classic country music fan now ask for me to "Get that Uncle Kracker CD" when we go somewhere together and until I made him listen to it, he would have never had that playing in his CD player! I even drive my co-workers crazy playing it at work!

Uncle Kracker made this one worth waiting on!! Thanks a million.

4.0 out of 5 stars Catchy, March 27, 2010
This review is from: Happy Hour (Audio CD)
I've never purchased any of Uncle Kracker's songs but I know the past singles. I liked his newest single, Smile, so much that I decided to check out the rest and was surprised that I liked every song! They are all very catchy, tones of rock, country & even hip hop show through (no rapping though). I think this will just appeal to a wide range of people. I love how many of the songs have their own feel. So many performers now put out CD's where the entire thing just sounds like the same song over & over but changed around a little. Not here! Definately a "Happy Hour" kind of CD!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Kracker doesn't disappoint with new album. 'Happy Hour' is amazing., October 7, 2009
This review is from: Happy Hour (Audio CD)
I've been an Uncle Kracker fan since he debuted back in 2000 with 'Double Wide' and I've been a fan ever since. I don't agree with some people saying how he's "soldout" by going more country-rock than rap-rock like he had early on in his career. Country-Rock suits him and i belive he's become more successful because of the transition. It seems like each of his albums have gotten better and better and that trend doesn't stop with 'Happy Hour', this is by far his best album to date. Every track is great, starting out with the first track (and first single) 'Smile' which is guaranteed to do exactly that. Probably the best song on the album is 'Livin' the Dream', although he could have done without the effects to his voice, the song is still amazing.

My favorite tracks on the album are 'Smile', 'My Girlfriend', 'Livin' the Dream', 'Me Again', 'Good to Be Me', and 'I Hate California'

In short, if you're a fan of Uncle Kracker you will most likely love this album, if you're just hearing him for the first time, i recommend starting with this CD.

I love this cd. I can't stop tapping my foot and head bobbing to the songs. There is a great mix of really fun and catchy lyrics, but I especially love the first 2 songs on the cd that are a bit more on the serious heart-felt side. I could definitely recomend this cd... and I agree with one of the other reviews that mentioned this is a great driving cd!

I heard a song on the radio, and immediately had to buy the CD, and now can't stop listening to it. I love Smile, and My Girlfriend is funny. The Bob Segar Mainstreet is good too. Highly recommend!

4.0 out of 5 stars Happy Hour - A Good Effort, September 15, 2009
This review is from: Happy Hour (Audio CD)
From all the reviews this album has received by the time I write mine, none of them were really positive. And truly, none of them really made sense to me, once the focus was everything but the recording itself.

"Happy Hour" is easy listening, a combination of soft rock with elements of country music that get together pretty well. Lyrics seem to be written from a personal point of view rather than a product of fantasizing. Nothing that could be called a masterpiece, but also far away from being way too idiotic.

Pretty much the norm these days, the CD version has only 12 tracks while the digital deluxe version has 3 extra tracks that would be very welcome to the physical option, noting that with such addition, the full length of the album does not exceed the storage limit for an audio CD.

This is a recommended release for this mid-September 2009.
