Product Description
What happens when an all-girls' high school reigning tomboy finds out her school is about to be filled with boys? Hanabi Oozora is a rambunctious 16-year-old tomboy who comes to the rescue of her less assertive friends - sometimes in exchange for food. So what does she do when, all of a sudden, her all-girls' school is about to be integrated with an all-boys' school? Hanabi meets and falls in love - naturally - with one of the three most popular and handsome boys in the Student Council, Yasuaki Garaku. Unfortunately, Yasuaki doesn't care for girls...and when the girls' Student Council clashes head-on with the boys' Student Council, Hanabi steps in to become a member-hoping she'll change Yasuaki's mind.

4.0 out of 5 stars Discription of the book, August 1, 2005
By Summer Storm "AmberGrace" (Mount Vernon, WA USA) - See all my reviews
Tomboy Hanabi Ozora's all-girls high school is going co-ed and she is the only girl at school who can talk to the boys with out blushing so the girls want her to be Vice President over the whole school. Then she falls in love with one of the most popular and hottest guys in school...but he doesnt know how to talk to girls, so he is a little hostile! The art is great even if the story line is a bit cliche.

5.0 out of 5 stars Volume 1 is a great start, October 24, 2006
By Ada Montgomery (Houston, Texas, USA) - See all my reviews
Unlike some reviews on this page the following one is for the first volume:

In Happy Hustle High (originally published as H3 School), Hanabi Ozora is a 16 yr old tomboy whose all-girl school is being intergrated with Meibi High (an all boy school). Hyper and cute, Hanabi is excited to have the boys around and on the first day meets the cute student council vice president, Yasuaki Garaku, who seems to want nothing to do with her or any girl. To help her shy and lovestruck friends, Hanabi agrees to fill in as a student council rep. Her first task? Make dating 'legal' again within the school. This means she'll have to get approval from Yasuaki.

I don't want to give too much away and ruin the fun of reading this manga (since that all it really is: fun), but you'll see Hanabi finding herself being in 'like' with both Yasuaki as well as his 'rival' Tokihisa Aido.

Personally, I really like this manga so far. Rie Takada has a nice clean style with good looking guys and cute girls. The story is nothing we haven't seen before, but I thought everything just really seemed to work. Yes Hanabi is lucky finding herself in the midst of a budding love triangle with the school's best looking guys, but she's such a likeable character it didn't annoy me, I was instead cheering her on.

If your looking for a cute, funny, and pretty short (I think it's only 5 vol.) series that is perfect for the manga reader who is looking for something a bit more mature, then I highly recommend Happy Hustle High.

5.0 out of 5 stars Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow. . ., December 14, 2006
By J Valentine (Atlanta, Georgia) - See all my reviews
Note: I will clue you in to something that I found out the hard way: H3 is only 5 volumes. THAT'S IT, End of the line; Do not pass GO, do not collect $200. Also, Children beware, this is not for kids. Well, it's not too bad, but some jokes will go right over the head of someone under 15.

On to my review:

This is one of my favorite series. The characters have interesting personalities that keep you guessing because everyone has a back story, they are as developed as 5 volumes will let them be, which is adequate. I was rooting for Hanabi the whole time, because she was so funny. In fact the whole series is a great comedy, people have said it before, this is not the most believable series, but it is the most fun I've had in ages. It's a great read while I am desperately waiting for the new Boys over Flowers volume to come out. The artwork is adorable and full of emotion, complete with great backgrounds of the ocean. I've stopped giving out spoilers in my reviews, so all I will say is that this is, to me, the epitome of the shoujo genre, it's got romance, teenage angst, school problems, parental problems, love triangles and bishonen (beautiful men). I have so many questions because the end kind of leaves you hanging, but all in all lovely.

I would recommend this series for anyone who is just getting into Shoujo. Everyone recommends classics like Mars, Sailor Moon and Fruits Basket etc but while those are all great series, they are admittedly long-winded (With the exception of Mars which ends in 15 volumes).

The Verdict:
If you have been searching for a cute love story with a happy ending this 5 volume series is shoujo at it's finest. Highly Recommended. A-
