Happy Marriage continues Chiwa and Hokuto's tumultuous faux marriage. Doubt sets in for Chiwa - she's just a simple girl and doesn't understand the deep game her husband plays at work. Does he even like her - or is she just a means to an end so he can continue to rise the corporate ladder.

This volume ended up with several 'filler' type of stories - cute love interests in the form of a new coworker she has to mentor and an old flame for whom she held a torch and now wants to hire her. Meanwhile, Hokuto has been caught with several women by the paparazzi - hurting Chiwa and further causing her to doubt herself.

The story picks up much more in coming volumes as both Hokuto and Chiwa will be tested. Will she become more than just his possession?

An enjoyable 'josei' (stories about women and not teens) romance similar to Viz's other title, Yuki Yoshihara's Butterflies and Flowers.

Received as an ARC from the publisher.

This is a great series that I have been waiting to be released here in the US for quite a while. Wanted to make sure that I help support the Mangaka now that it is available in my country.
This is NOT a good read for younger or teen manga fans. This has to do with real marriage and complex family issues that I would not recommend for anyone who is not an experienced adult.
Very funny and a little silly at times, but worth reading until the end of the series. It is one of my favorites!

The story is definetely about a married couple that don't know anything about each other. They are struggeling to develope communication abilities and to even care about the other person. An arranged marriage with no love can be a hard system to function under. Both are stoicly working on getting past the awkwardness of living with a stranger and are working hard to like the other perosn. The story moves right along with new things happening all the time. No dragging of the plot. It is interesting and real.

I am really, really enjoying this series. I’m so glad VIZ licensed it.

Chiwa has encounters with two new men in this volume. First, a man in the office, who acts nice and supportive and talks to her about stuff, but then hits on her. In the end, though, she ends up talking to him about her problems, and he’s sometimes a little helpful, but other times, not. Then she runs into an old friend from college, who she likes, but Hokuto interrupts that as soon as he finds out.

Chiwa also starts worrying about her relationship with Hokuto when she hears him talking to a friend, thinking that he doesn’t want their marriage. And he’s trying to be helpful and supportive, but he doesn’t really know how to do that with her.

I love seeing Chiwa and Hokuto get closer, them interact and fight and make up and make out. They’re fun. Chiwa freaks out a lot, including when he kisses her, but she does like him. And he’s a little hard around the edges, not easy to talk to, but he does like her. They’re figuring out who the other person is, how to live together and be married to each other. And I am loving it.

This series is just so much fun. I really enjoy the humor, and the art is very pretty. I am definitely excited for the next book.

This is a great book! This book is definitely for adults. Easy to read, funny, but serious at times. It is a great love story, you are never quite sure what will happen next. I can't wait for vol.3.
