5.0 out of 5 stars no dvd
This is another gem that should be on dvd. Why is it so hard for good movies to be placed on dvd while so many below par and bad movies are?

1.0 out of 5 stars Fine acting; despicable characters' storyline.
I know it's a film, and not reality, but I was completely shocked by the crooks' abuse of kindness.

The biggest and final heist occurs at Harry Winston jewelers, and it is only possible because the store manager is kind-hearted. After the crooks sink to this despicable ruse, I would have cheered if they had been been shot dead, for what is more loathesome than...

5.0 out of 5 stars PETER FALK IS ONE IN A MILLION AND THREE OF A KIND, November 29, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Happy New Year [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Peter Falk is just your average meat-and-potatoes theif... with a healthy appetite for carats in the comical crime caper Happy New Year. Falk gives one of his finest, funniest performances as he teams up once again with the inimitable Charles During ("Big Trouble") to pull off a gem of a jewel heist. Nick (Falk) and Charlie (During) are going for the big score when they head to West Palm Beach to hit the exclusive Harry Winston's Jewelry Store. Buy the video and learn the rest..........

1.0 out of 5 stars Fine acting; despicable characters' storyline., October 10, 2011

I know it's a film, and not reality, but I was completely shocked by the crooks' abuse of kindness.

The biggest and final heist occurs at Harry Winston jewelers, and it is only possible because the store manager is kind-hearted. After the crooks sink to this despicable ruse, I would have cheered if they had been been shot dead, for what is more loathesome than turning goodness against someone to one's own advantage?

Warren Lane wrote the screenplay. I wonder if the original Claude LeLouche story, 'La Bonne Annee,' took this turn or if Lane was unable to, or too lazy to devise a way for the crooks to get into Winstons that did not require wounding another character's spirit permanently.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of Peter Faulk's best movies, July 17, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This movie has been tremendously underrated throughout the decades. Peter faulk does some of his best acting and performing in this movie. He gets dressed up in many different disguises and just has fun with it. Fun, fun, fun, movie set around the idea of a jewelry heist.

4.0 out of 5 stars I liked it, February 7, 2010

Peter & Charles together make a great movie together. I thought it was a funny movie watching them try to rob this store. Everything goes wrong.
