If you have never read Barbara Samuels'Dolores series, you are missing out! Dolores is a sweet, funny, creative little girl (reminds me a lot of my own little girl) whose best friends are her older sister Faye, and her cat, Duncan. We bought this book for my daughter when she was 2-3 years old and it's still a favorite nearly 4 years later. The illustrations are detailed and fun (great for the pre-readers to examine on their own) and the story is entertaining and fun to read (for adults reading to kids and new readers). I must confess that this book was in heavy rotation for several months, and I never tired of reading it aloud. We fell in love with Dolores and Duncan and Faye, and now own all of Ms. Samuels' Dolores and Duncan books. In fact, we like these books so much, we buy them for friends.
