better than i expected, March 6, 2009
This review is from: Happy smiles (Audio CD)
I have been a huge t.A.T.u. fan since my friend Alex introduced me to them in 2005. I had both of their CDs and loved the mvs, as well as was excited about the prospects of a movie based on the fabulous duo. But as for the third CD...I honestly expected to wait for their English version. I just felt that other than You and I, Running Blind and Fly On the Wall, ( the English songs) I wouldn't be able to feel the power of the songs unless I could -ahem- understand them. I was quite wrong.
Maybe t.A.T.u.'s newest songs will be even more meaningfull when I hear them in my own language, but they're pretty good now, too. You can get a sense of the meaning just from their music and from their way of singing, tone of voice. I guess I shouldn't have lost faith in t.A.T.u.
One thing you have to admit is that Happy Smiles has a different feel than the first two CDs. With exceptions like You and I and Beliy Plascik (forgive my sp?), t.A.T.u. has taken a new, more 'futureistic' sound. It's just as good as their old sound- but in a different way.
If you haven't heard t.A.T.u. before, you might want a 'sounds like' section of this review...but unfortunately and fortunately, t.A.T.u. has their own, entirely unique sound- as I'm sure all their fans would agree.
I highly reccomend buying Happy Smiles, even if you don't speak Russian.

If you like T.A.T.U. get this album!, July 21, 2009
This review is from: Happy smiles (Audio CD)
If you are an old or new fan of T.A.T.U. then this album is for you. Some songs are in English, but most are in Russian. Despite not knowing what they are singing about, the Russian songs are just as good as the English ones. The album's overall feel is reminescent of their previous pop albums, without sounding identical or overdone. It's a nice mix of songs and I am glad I purchased this album! Recommended!!

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Happy smiles (Audio CD)
I've been a Tatu fan since 2002 when I first heard their "All the things she said" on a vacation in Europe.
Since then I've bought both albums, even the first one in russian too. When I saw they had a third album coming out I was skeptical whether I'd like it or not.
Right now the first one is still me favorite because of the memories from it. However, this new album is well worth the money. Their style has changed into more of a unique type. It's still very techo/electronica dance type and features lovely singing from Yulia and Lena.
There is a great into piece to this cd that's instrumental. The cd features beautiful russian songs along with some english thrown in. It is definetly a cd you can listen to straight through over and over again.
I really recommend this album to all Tatu fans. If you haven't heard their music this is a great cd to explore.
