Bexar Bexar's debut album on Western Vinyl is 15 songs of instrumental ambience and gentleness, open and clear and delivered well. Reminding the listener of the finer moments from such artists as Mum and Tortoise, the songs flow together so smoothly that the album is over before you realize it. Bexar Bexar can definitely pull the senses in, evoking memories of sunny autumn afternoons or lazy Sunday mornings snuggled underneath layers of warm blankets. The music is composed of mild electronic sounds, mellow guitar tones, upbeat loops, and a good deal of ambience is noted on Haralambos, as well. And whether feelings generated from the songs are akin to the stark melancholy of looking upon a freshly fallen snow or the hopeful joy of waking to a fresh autumn day, this is one hell of a great album. It's hard to determine what makes an album great in the post-compositional world of the children of ambient music... Eno's progeny. But this is a delightful piece of peace, with textures and sonic shapes that always sound new... like the light changing in a room as the day progresses. Ambient for those who thought they were bored by ambient. Sly and sneaky and refreshing all at the same time.

Mmmmm...

Not a big fan of ambient music, but this is really top of my favourites pile. You might recognise some of the tracks from This American Life (NPR) - I liked the music on the show so much I did some research on the Internet until I found out what it was and went out on bought it.

Its pretty hard to put a finger on exactly what makes it so great. Maybe that what is it? Its ambient instrumental music and most of the tracks are, well, instantly forgettable -- they don't have strong melodies that will swirl around in your mind for hours on end. You can lose yourself in it for a while, turn off, tune out and lull yourself away into a daydream or off to sleep. Bliss.

Probably the best album I've bought in 5 years.

Bexar Bexar's first well-known album Haralambos is one of the greatest instrumental albums of all time. This albums sound just doesn't get old. It's defintly worth your money.

Bexar Bexar's Haralambos is something of a silent beacon; one, which, woven with care and balance, floats among days with ease and free spirit.

If a mathematical representation of the peaceful human spirit were to be musically created using electronic instrumentation, such would be what has amassed within this offering. Numbers aside, within the characteristics of songs on this album lies a mellow noted treasure; one with growing passion (time).

Not to bare too deep into the disection of the nomenclature of the ambient genre itself, it should be said that Haralambos is a somewhat distant cousin of Drone, but more directly a sibling to ocean sunsets and melodic timing - respectively.

Soft, plush and rare, this album - though sparce - is beautified by such. Ambient and downtempo heads rejoice, this is a definitive "repeater". Any "Post [enter genre here]" fan will love this. Beautiful music along the lines of the programming and melodic moments of Tortoise, spacious landscape and scope of Mum, and epic semi tinctures of mini Mogwai moments - all in lo-fi, muted chimes - valerian fields abound. The foundations of ambience resonate deep within, and combine with what else is great about life these days; a masterpiece created.

Over before you know it, one cannot help but cycle this album from time to time, more often, then and now. If the sky could write music, it would most likely sound like this.
