Grips the bar very nicely & and it feels very comfortable.
jimmy szamski
You grip must be as tight as you can get it when wrapping the straps around the bar, then you twist your wrist to tighten it more to your liking.

Great grip, improved my all around heavy lifting pull ups, deadlifts etc.

The idea of "Big Grip No-Slip" straps sounds good but it's a terrible idea. In order to get maximum use out of lifting straps they must be twisted on the bar/dumbbell with the hand doing the lifting, the rubber strips that face the bar prevent from doing that. With five years of lifting, three years of training four times per week, I know a good strap from a bad one, this is a BAD one. Highly suggest against purchasing.

I bought this with the thought that the grip on the inside would make these great.

The problem is that the grip on the inside does work, but the material is very slippery on the outside and doesn't seem to break in at all. So it holds the bar well, but I cannot hold the straps well on the outside.

If the straps were not slippery on the outside, they would be quite nice, actually, as they really do a solid job gripping the bar.

These straps are true to their word and are very heavy duty. I have held upwards of 400 lbs using these and they show no sign of wear after a month. My problem with these straps is that they have terrible hand grip! The grip to the bar is the marvelous but the grip from the straps to your hands is somewhat less likeable. When your hands get sweaty the material gets slippery likely because the material isn't cotton. This can get extremely irritating when you are repping heavier weights and sometimes it feels as if just a normal grip would last longer. If you need straps for lifting over 315lbs then I would recommend these for their durability over time. Cotton straps will tend to wear and tear but if you are lifting below 315 and just need a little grip for those long sets then get cotton straps instead.

Harbinger makes a good effort with these lifting straps but I cant give it 5 stars for 1 reason. the rubber is on the wrong side.otherwise very sturdy, but in the out-of-box design, while trying to roll these onto the bar is near impossible.what I did was to un-stitch the padding and put it over the harbinger logo, so that the bar will touch the cloth side, while my hand touches the rubber part.no slips here and I do pull pretty heavy on lat pull downs.

I've read a few of the other reviews and I have to say that these may not work and feel like the "old school" cloth straps, but that doesn't mean they don't do do the jobThe thicker, more durable nylon makes these last much longer than the alternative. I've had mine for a year and they look exactly the same as when I first bought them, whereas a cloth pair would be tattered, if not in need of replacement by now. The material is more rigid, but after a few sessions it will want to maintain its coiled shape.

The rubberized lining grips the bar as is intended. Just keep the strap from unraveling (literally requires a few pounds of pressure with even the heaviest loads) and you're sitting tight. The padding feels good on the wrists.

I really can't imagine these being more functional or durable.

Coming from using the cloth straps... it took a bit to get used to these. I figured the extra grip was going to be a major plus but instead found it a bit odd to use because of the extra grip... if you don't get a tight rap the first wrap around it will stay as a rather loose wrap because the grip keeps it from sliding in to a tight grip. I had to take an extra inch off the straps until I managed to figure out my own technique how to wrap a good grip with it. Maybe its just me but it took me a bit to get used to it

These lifting straps are very helpful when you have trouble holding on to the barbells and dumbbells. The straps are relatively comfortable (considering the straps are holding a lot of weight) But after the first set it starts to wear at your skin, though the padding does help, and there is a little piece of nylon that jabs my wrist but you can cut that off, and after use for a while they start to soften up and contour to your wrist.

In summary I like these lifting straps a lot, and for the price you cant beat'em. (You can get them at your local dicks sportinggoods for the same price) But if you want to spring the extra 12 dollars or so for the fancy neoprune ones be my guest.

I've been a fan of Harbinger straps ever since I started getting more involved in lifting. The strap itself is very durable and thicker than others I have used in the past. The catches are that the material they are using for this model is quite slippery, almost a glossy coating. The rubber is only on one particular side of the strap, which is fine for particular lifts, but for others, it would be nice to have the option of rubber on either side depending how you are looking to wrap the bar. I feel as though the strap itself is higher quality than others I have used, but there were a few questionable decisions made when developing this product (material gloss and location of the rubber grip).
