Chain Too Short,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Polypro Dip Belt (Sports)
I have worked out in many gyms (at least 20+), and I've used weight belts in many of these gyms. I've never encountered one with such a short chain. I am keeping the belt, because sending it back is more of a hassle, but I have going to have to purchase chain from the local hardware store and lengthen it. The chain that comes with this belt will barely fit around a 45lb. plate, let alone allow it to hang at knee level, which is where the plate winds up with EVERY other belt I've used.
This is a typical "made in China" product. Labor price OVER quality. I'm sure I will want to reduce the rating to one star when the stitching starts to pull out in a year or so.

Harbinger dip belt,

I received my harbinger dip belt a couple of weeks ago and have used it twice. I did my dips with two 45 pound plates. So far it seems like a well made product. The chain is a little short though. If you are using plates with handles or a couple of 25 pound plates it isn't a problem. You would be unable to use a 45 pound plate(s) without a handle with this dip belt.

Great belt that's strong enough for hip belt squats,
This review is from: Polypro Dip Belt (Misc.)
I have been using my Harbinger polypro dip belt for a few months now without any problems. Nice affordable belt with great durable construction that is strong enough for weighted dips, chins, calf raises, and even heavy hip belt squats.
A 'true' hip belt runs $100+ for basically the same type of belt made of nylon/poly webbing material. The synthetic dip belts are known to be stronger AND more comfortable than the traditional leather dip belts, especially when loaded heavily. I have loaded mine with over 100# when doing said hip belt squats, but I'm sure it can handle more weight comfortably. A loading pin comes in handy for the belt squats when using heavy loads (2 or more plates). The belt has come in handy when I go to the gym, so I don't have to carry my 25# weighted vest every time (belt weighs just 3#). Like others have mentioned, the chain is on the 'short' side, but this actually works in my favor (5'7", size 32 waist). 12/11: Ended up ditching the steel chain for some rock climbing nylon "daisy chains" and stainless steel carabiners for a strong, lightweight, and adjustable belt that won't dig into your thighs (especially with squatting).

Only one small problem,

The only problem I had with this belt is the screw that went through the u-bolt stripped out. I just put a longer screw through the u-bolt and used a nut on the end. Other then that I haven't had anymore problems. This dip belt works great and can confirm it will hold 115lbs during dips or pullups.

If you want to do weighted dips and/or pull-ups, you really can't ask for a better belt than this one. Unless you have a personal preference for leather (and you don't mind paying almost double for it), I can see no reason why not to purchase this belt.
Bottom line is that it works, it's as comfortable as it can be, and it's built to last.

Belt is well constructed, consistent with the other reviews the chain could be a little bit longer. I normally hang 25's from the chain, and that's about as big of a plate as I can fit using the stock chain. Belt itself is reinforced with sewen canvas backing, and adequately padded. I would recommend this purchase as a solid value buy.

I'm really happy with it. I've been working out for years and this is a good weight dip belt. I'm 220 pounds and it fit me very well. I'm happy with the belt construction.

I was using a homemade one using a rope and hook. As I started using more weight I decided to buy one. I use dumbbells when I do dips. The chain is long enough for either dumbbells or plates. The one drawback with this belt is that it's too short to wrap around your waist. So when you rest between sets, you have to hold it a little or take it off. I used one that someone had left at the gym and it wrapped around my waist and had velcro to hold it closed. It was a Harbinger, just not this one. I'm using it rather than send it back. Just wish I had the other one. It was much more comfortable.

the belt works as a dip belt should. i have had no problems, not much to screw up with a dip belt. it's comfortable and holds weight... does everything i need it to do.
