They are durable plastic, clearly strong plastic, with a very comfortable grip.
My use of them has been upon carpeted surfaces; the rubber and hard plastic bottoms might not be quite so effective upon wood or other flooring.
It really takes a lot of strain off of your wrists, and make getting up and down so much easier.
It's been a while, almost 4 years since I bought them.
