This is my first kayaking glove. I've been very happy with these and my half finger gloves from Harbinger. I've been having trouble with numbness in my hands. Had this problem before getting gloves and thought they may solve them.
Pros: Protects the palm of your hands. Also this helps in sun protection. Being from California you really have to think about skin cancer risk to all exposed skin.
Cons: None, but they did not solve my numbness problem. My hands don't get as cold, but they still get numb. Will have to check into bent blade paddle to see if that helps... lol

Lastly: Don't wear if you launch from sandy beach into the surf. The sand will get trapped in the gloves. Found this one out the hard way. Now I launch first and put gloves on after I'm in the water...

4.0 out of 5 stars Okay for paddling, April 26, 2011

I bought these gloves for outrigger canoe paddling. They are a little tight so buy a larger size unless you like them tight. I found them a little stiff and the patches on the palms caused some difficulty with the quick switches required in outrigger paddling. The patches sort of catch as my hand grabs for the top of the paddle. I gave them 4 stars because they seem well made, and will probably last well. I will find some other use for them, maybe sailing.
