Excellent Sounds of a Working Harbor,

This review is from: Harbor Sounds - Vintage Ambiance & Relaxing Nostalgia Sound Effects (Audio CD)
Just received this disc a short while ago and have listened to it all the way through several times now. Landlocked out in the west, I cannot hear these sounds anymore from my youth. Very occassionally where I grew up a bit far from an inland port/harbor, when the windows were open in the summer, I could hear the sounds of tug boats and whistles from them and various freighters. It was rare, but very memorable. This disc contains all those sounds and more and are real, not electronically ("white noise")manufactured. Excellent recording and transitions between sounds. The author states that he "seamed" over 100 sounds into this recording and I believe it. Get this disc to transport yourself to a working port harbor; you won't find anything like this elsewhere or near as well done.

NOT A BACKGROUND FOR MASSAGE,

I bought this hoping there would be the sounds of a harbor with subtle ship and boat sounds in the distance.
This was more of a sound effects theme. Even though it is accurate for nostalgia of a harbor, It was not a peaceful relaxing backdrop for a massage.

During a recent trip to the Mariner's Museum in Newport News, VA, I found myself enjoying the sounds played at some of the exhibits, particularly those of the watermen of the Chesapeake. Looking to replicate that experience at home, I was only able to find this CD of "Harbor Sounds." Not only is it exactly what I wanted, it completely surpassed my expectations. It's not a series of discrete and separate harbor-related sound effects; instead, it's as if someone found an idyllic harbor and recorded over an hour's worth of ambient sounds, making you feel as though you're sitting on a pier watching boats and ships chug past. All I need now is a scented candle that duplicates the smell of fish and sea air and seagrass and creosote-soaked wood, and the illusion of being at a far-off port would be complete. Thank you, "Spicer Pro," for an extraordinary and relaxing ambient album that delivers 100% on its promise to stir memories and feelings.
