I'm telling everyone about this book!,

I simply love this book. The principles are explained well, it's easy to understand, and it works!!! I feel great, and although I only want to lose about 10 pounds, half of it came off the first 5 days (phase 1), where the goal is to remedy any possible Candida, Food Intolerance, and Hypoglycemia, which are, according to the author, the causes of food cravings. And, really, if you're not craving food, it's pretty easy to eat well! And you can eat PLENTY on this diet--I often have to eat way more than I normally would to make sure I don't get hungry and crave processed carbs. And the weight still comes off!
This is one of the healthiest "diets" I've ever heard of, and the easiest. Very simplified, once you get past the initial Phase 1, you basically eat real food (not processed), separating fats (things with faces) and carbs (things without faces), eating most vegetables with either. That way your system digests things better and you aren't craving food because your body is getting the good nutrition it needs without being addicted to foods that are bad for you. I've even started to cook (my family would be shocked) so I can know what's in the foods I'm eating. For me, that's huge, because I've been living off the steam tables at Whole Foods and New Leaf for ages--but even there, you don't know if things have sugar and other stuff in them that you don't want. And like most people I've been mixing my fats and carbs, which confuses the digestive system. Anyway, blah blah blah--just get the book and judge for yourself. I you can get through five days of eating lots of food but nothing processed and (hardest for me) no wine or potatoes, you'll either be convinced that it's terrific or you won't have lost anything but possibly some nasty cravings due to Candida, Food Intolerance, or Hypoglycemia. Not a bad bet!

I would highly recommend this book/diet. I've never been one to count calories, and I didn't weigh myself before I started; I can tell you that in just a little over 2 weeks, the pants that were 'TIGHT' are now slipping off my hips...my clothes are getting loose, and I'm shrinking daily. My friends & family all noticed literally only 3 days in that I had lost weight. I'm finding the Harcombe diet easy to follow, and I'm eating well, and I feel great! It's broken up into easy to read/follow parts, and full of good information concerning health, how your body reacts with food, and certain combinations of food, and why. I did find however, there were certain foods I wasn't able to look up in the book...foods I wasn't sure if I could eat or not, ie lemons. I love to put lemons in my water, and couldn't find any information about lemons. What can I use as a salad dressing besides just olive oil? I also have no idea where to find bacon that's not smoked or has no sugar in it...does it exist? I had to rely on a friend for this information. She said there are blogs & chat rooms where people exchange ideas, get questions answered, etc. I don't feel like I'm on a diet. This diet is portable; you can take it wherever you go. For example, if you're invited to a dinner party, or out to restaurant, your equipped with the knowledge of what you can eat & still enjoy yourself. It's easy to slip into your lifestyle for a lifetime. Invest in this book, not a new wardrobe of 'larger' clothes. As with anything else in this life...you get to choose.

This diet works! I watched Zoe's YouTube videos then bought the book. I told myself I can do anything for 5 days..after Phase 1 the diet adds back in additional foods and it's quite easy to stay on. I recommend this book.

The best slimming book EVER!,
This review is from: Harcombe Diet (Paperback)
I have tried many diets, but this is not a diet it is a look at the bigger pictue and it works. The first five days I lost 9 lbs, and it is nicely divided into three stages that you can stick to easily. For me the big difference was that I am not a recipe follower, and it allows for people like me ie gives you lists of what you can & can't eat rather than a meal plan! This is the book to end all diet books :-) BUY IT!!!!

If you want to lose weight and get healthy, then do these things:- Count your calories - Eat less fat, especially saturated fat - Watch your portion sizes - Consume a "balanced" diet with lots of fruits and vegetables - Eat more "healthy whole grains" Sounds logical, right? I'll make this short and sweet. I've been studying up on diet for a good many years, having gained and lost 100 pounds twice, and been on every type of flim flam diet imaginable and I blog about it at[...] This is my favorite new book. It makes amazing sense and I wish I'd found this when I was in my 20's because it would have saved me untold decades of dieting heartache. The truth is written beautifully in this book and it could change your life.

Ok so here's the deal. I am a 24 yr old woman (2011) and i have about a hundred pounds to lose. I have a problem with carbs. This book explains how cravings for certain foods are actually signs that there is a medical problem like candida, food intolerance, and hypoglycemia. Amazing necessary information. This book can really help you start to inform yourself and it's backed up by her 20 years of research and other studies. Also it is geared toward the UK audience. Measuring in stones and grams etc. Fyi a stone is 14 pounds. Moving on to my personal experience: the five day phase 1 was really easy, i dropped 6 pounds of water weight and really felt the same. It was really confusing for me to go into phase two because you can't eat fat and carbs together. Altogether I learned a lot and it guided me to an even better book that explained it a lot better. It turns out atkins works much better for me. It turns out I have hypoglycemia which wasn't explained as well in THD as it is in dr. Atkins' new diet revolution. Before you go thinking wrong about atkins because of all the misconceptions, check it out from the library and read it. They're practically the same info but instead of saying seperate your carbs and fats atkins says limit all carbs for two weeks, then progressively add more. So in the end read it for the info but not the diet. Needing a low carb diet to keep hunger away? Try atkins or at least read his book to see which is better for YOU. |
