A delicious slice of Civil War era life,
By Edward J. Kanze "A naturalist and writer" (Bloomingdale, NY United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Hard Breathing Days: The Civil War Letters of Cora Beach Benton, Albion, New York, 1862-1865 (Hardcover)
The Cora Beach letters are fascinating. One cannot read them without feeling a deep interest in these people. Their lives are ordinary in many ways, but that makes them universal, heightening the interest. Highly recommended for anyone interested in the social history of America during the Civil War, New York State history, and indeed, for anyone interested in the human race.
