3.0 out of 5 stars okay
I love to read Angela Knight, but her story was a little short. The last story in the book is the best. Also two men getting it on doesn't do much for me. Over all this book was okay.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very satisfying anthology, July 25, 2005
This review is from: Hard Candy (Paperback)
Hard Candy is the print version of an erotica e-book that contains three ménage stories involving two males and one female. Only the first doesn't include homoerotic sex.

Angela Knight's very short story "Hero Sandwich" plays in a world where super heroes are not unusual. The heroine is a former thief (forced by her vicious father) now turned paparazzi who is in lust with a super hero. She eventually has rather forceful sex with him and his brother and helps them catch her father's old colleague.
While the story is not badly written it is simply too short for any character development or real storytelling. This is a short story intended to titillate. More for her fans than anyone else.

The next story "Candy for her Soul" by Sheri Gilmore is a contemporary. It tells about a demon, Luke, who wants his human son, Nico, to find his heart's desire in the form of Natalie and David, both former classmates of his.
The story is well written and engaging as long as you don't mind ménage, m/m scenes and dominant elements. It is also long enough to get a feeling for the developing, sympathetic characters. Good erotic story.

Morgan Hawke's "Fortune's Star" is the chef-d'œuvre of this book and also the longest offering. The story plays in the same universe as her other "Star" sci-fi erotica novels but doesn't contain their very strong BDSM features; it has only a few.
The genuine fortune-teller Luxi is on the way to her new and boring job. On Port Destiny Station she meets Leto, a cyborg housing a human spirit, and Amun, diplomat and telepath. Luxi becomes Amun's assistant and their lover. They defeat an evil spirit, and she decides to stay with the two men.
This is one sensually erotic story! Morgan Hawke is an excellent writer who knows how to seamlessly combine sci-fi with erotica and a love story without ever losing her focus on the story. The world-building is thought-through and exciting, the characters are sexy, always true to how they are supposed to be and believable, and the sex is scorchingly erotic, the ideal combination. Ms. Hawke is a true storyteller with an immense talent for engaging the reader's mind and body.

If you're in the mood for an erotic read to titillate the senses, the last story alone is enough to justify buying this book. All in all a very satisfying anthology.

Well who couldn't love anything that Angela Knight has written? Her shopping lists are probably erotic! That said these stories are a bit scandalous and not for everyone. All of them are about menage a tois involving 2 men and one lucky woman. However, it's not all about the woman! Two of the stories highly involve male/male sexual situations, so be prepared that you may not feel comfortable with them.

Hero Sandwich- Angela Knigh
A great story of a super stealthy camera toting ex-villainess and the two comic book type super hero's that she spies on. The brother duo decides to extract a little revenge and see just how far Paparazzi is willing to go for an exclusive. A very tasty treat with a happy ending!

Candy For Her Soul-Sheri Gilmore
One of Satan's demons has started his own little southern family and after years of disinterest he decides his son should get everything he wants. That includes the TWO loves of his life. Bad boy Nico has been in love with geeky Natalie since they were little kids...unfortunately he showed it by tormenting her and Natalie fell in love with his bestfriend David. But David always wanted to be more than friends...This is a great, very well written love story. This is a bit explicit in the mens relationship and the love scenes were a bit rushed but as an all-around story it was great and I'd love to read more from this author.

Fortune's Star-Morgan Hawke
The longest of the three offerings this is a futuristic, space thiller with characters who are genetically modified, psychic, or android/ghosts. It's well written with great love scenes and inventive but a bit confusing with the heroine having various tallents and wanting to be dominated but still wanting to be completely independant. That said it is still good and the whole book is worth the price!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazingly Perfect!, March 3, 2011
This review is from: Hard Candy (Kindle Edition)
The only reason I got this book was because there was a short story by one of my favorite authors Angela Knight. It was in this novel that I was introduced to two other authors, Sheri Gilmore and Morgan Hawke. I was shocked by how much I fell in love with them. Normally I don't like the other authors in these kinds of novels, but those two quickly became my favorites, topping even Angela Knight. Their stories were so perfectly done.

Hero Sandwich by Angela Knight

To the superheroes and supervillains of New York City, Meg Jennings is Paparazzi, an invisible flying menace who snaps pictures of them while they are out fighting the good fight. When one of her photos ends up causing speculation about superheroes Cougar and Lynx's sexual preferences, the brothers have had enough. It's time to bring this flying menace down. They lay a trap for her and she walks right into their arms. Now poor Meg is facing prison for past crimes, but Cougar and Lynx offer her a way out by magnanimously allowing her to pay off her debt to society with a good old fashioned hero sandwich.

This incredibly naughty short story was so funny. Cougar and Lynx are like Batman and Robin (without the homoerotic tendencies) and they work Meg like a symphony. The sex was a little forceful yet extremely titillating. It's also way too short and I wanted more. This was a very enjoyable short story.

Candy for her Soul by Sheri Gilmore

Natalie Pasqua has always wanted David, the high school stud, but she's also always wanted Nico Bui, the high school bad boy. Eight years after high school Natalie is back in town and immediately runs into both of them. The sparks immediately fly and with a little maneuvering from a helpful demon this trio will finally get their happily ever after.

Alot of sex in this one, but it was also a surprisingly nice story. The men grow up and stop being ashamed of their sexual needs and Natalie soon finds the confidence to step up and become the glue in this happy little trio, which is led by Nico's alpha dog status. This story is helped along by Nico's absentee demon father, Luke. He wants his son to find happiness and so he meddles in his life. Of course Luke samples the goods before he brings everyone together. I'm normally not a fan of m/m but my favorite couplings was between the men. They were explicit and they should have made me squeamish but instead I found them very erotic.

Fortune's Star by Morgan Hawke

Luxi Emery can see into the future and she can follow the threads of life's choices. She loses her job due to her ability and sets a rogue ghost after her. She heads out for a fresh start and fate leads her to a ghost haunted cyborg named Leto and a suave telepathic diplomat named Amun. The two men are in love but due to Leto's need to feed off of human emotions during sex he cannot be sustained by Amun without harming him. Then fate leads Luxi into their lives and she has a special ability that allows the three of them to be together, but Leto isn't the only hungry ghost who wants her, the evil spirit who has been chasing after her wants her, too.

Excellent scifi erotica. This is almost exactly like Victorious Star. In my opinion Amun and Leto are almost interchangeable with Seht and Ravnos and it has the same set up in regards to hierarchy, Leto dominates Luxi and Amun dominates Leto and Luxi. The men aren't as brutal and domineering as Seht and Ravnos from Victorious Star, though. This was the longest of the three stories and definitely the most interesting. Especially that crotch rope. Hehe. Now that was interesting. While the sex is explicit and a great romp, it's the incredible storytelling that was the best part for me. This has got everything but the kitchen sink and you will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unique and Highly Erotic, November 28, 2011

Hard Candy- Angela Knight, Morgan Hawke, Sheri Gilmore

If you find yourself titillated and curious about threesomes then you may want to start your journey with this book .It is by three totally different authors with three distinctly different writing styles.

Many of us have read Angela Knight and her Mageverse books, but many don't know that she has a bit of a more erotica bent too. It certainly shows with some of her love scenes in her non-erotica. Ms Knight has a flair of blending a good story with steamy love scenes.

Sheri Gilmores story was the least favorite of mine but still well worth reading for a slightly different point of view. This story combines an aspect of threesomes that some may be a tad uncomfortable with but is elegantly and sensitively done in this book.

Lastly "Fortunes Star" is my favorite and the longest of the stories. Morgan Hawke is a gem of an erotica author and she certainly knows how to add sci-fi to the mix. The men in this story are very, very unique.
This story combines the uniqueness of this particular species/man, magic, and bi-sexuality and is all wrapped up in a great space drama background. Ms Hawke has written at least three other books set in this type of world. As long as you don't mind sci-fi along with your erotica, I can recommend at least these two books along with this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars good, consistent anthology, June 20, 2008
This review is from: Hard Candy (Paperback)
"Hero Sandwich" by Angela Knight.

This is the shortest story in the anthology, more of a short story than a novella.

Meg Jennings has a secret identity: Paparazzi, with a suit that makes her fly and renders her invisible. At least she's no longer using the suit to be Sneak Thief. So it's a little hypocritical of her to break up with billionaire Richard Drake because of his secrecy.

Before she can sort out her feelings, however, she gets caught by superhero Cougar, who both frightens and excites her, ever since he caught her and her father 6 years ago. Cougar and his brother Lynx take her captive and, well, once she realizes what they have in mind, she doesn't resist very much.

I'd really have liked this story to be longer, but all the elements are there--the hero and heroine have known each other, so the romance doesn't come from out of the blue, and there's even some credible emotion between them. I also enjoyed the twist, though I suspect more alert readers would have figured it out sooner than I did. And there's the bit of a theme of keeping secrets that's rather nice.

The sex scenes, of course, are very hot, which is not at all surprising.

_______
"Candy for Her Soul" by Sheri Gilmore.

This story is the more usual novella length that I expect in anthologies.

It's mostly the story of Natalie, David, and Nico. Natalie wants both David and Nico, and they both want her. And though he doesn't mention it to Natalie and Nico, David wants Nico, too. Deep inside, Nico's also attracted to David, but he doesn't admit it even to himself.

So Nico and David decide to settle things like men--they make a bet. Whoever has Natalie in his bed on Valentine's Day gets to keep her. Fortunately for all of them, Nico's father Luke is a demon, and he decides to nudge things along.

I really enjoyed this story--the development of their 3-way romance was emotional, particularly for the men, and David's fear of rejection and Nico's fear of admitting his attraction to David was realistic and poignant.

The demon parts, on the other hand, seemed extraneous and distracting. I kept wanting to get back to interactions between the 3 main characters. Once again, length could be the problem--in a longer story, I wouldn't have minded Luke's role as much.

And oh, yes. Very steamy, very hot.
_____
"Fortune's Star" by Morgan Hawke. This is more of a short novel than just a novella.

Luxi is a psychic who just lost her job because of her talent for precognition (nobody wants an employee who knows what the company is going to do in advance--the potential for corporate espionage is too great), and is on her way to start a new life, when she meets Leto and Amun, and her secondary talent, for seeing ghosts, becomes valuable: Amun is a diplomat who's a powerful telepath, and Leto is his employee, a cyborg inhabited by a ghost.

That becomes especially important when it turns out Luxi is the only one who can see and feel Leto's actual self. It comes in handy in the sex scenes, too.

Luxi's being chased by the man whose scheme she foiled before she was fired, and there's danger related to Amun's job from various people with various psychic talents.

Then there's the emotional story. Amun loves Leto, and Luxi provides a bridge between the two of them, and they end up loving her as well.

I absolutely loved the part where Luxi used her precognition in an action scene. It was very clever, made sense, and wasn't something I'd read before. The story as a whole was a bit confusing, but I imagine if I read more stories set in this universe (I see there are a few), it would be clearer.

_______
This was a good, surprisingly consistent anthology. A wee bit disappointing, in that I'd bought it for the Angela Knight contribution, only to find it was the shortest in the book, but I'll get over it.
