5.0 out of 5 stars Another victim of the glue!, April 22, 2010

When I received the product two of the four corners had slipped off their black plastic bases and become attached to the orange fabric of the case itself. With great difficulty I was able to remove and reseat the corners and remove some, but not all :( , of the very sticky glue from the fabric.

EDIT: The manufacturer promptly replaced the case described above with a brand new one without the sticky glue. I am now very happy with this case and would now give it four or five stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars Be aware of different style of rubber bumpers that will not allow use of smart cover, June 13, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The Hard Candy Bubble Sleeve case has good reviews including video reviews that make it easy to make a decision whether to buy it or not. Since the problem with the glue on the rubber bumpers was resolved by stitching the Velcro to the bumpers, I decided on giving the sleeve a try. As soon I opened my new case I noticed it had different rubber bumpers. This bumpers will not allow you to store the iPad with a smart cover on it. The rubber bumpers have a lip to secure the iPad in place instead of just allowing the iPad to sit on it as viewed on the previous bumpers pictures. The new bumpers are good to secure an iPad without a smart cover. Unfortunately, I want to store mine with the smart cover on it and this sleeve is no good for me. I will be calling Hard Candy to inquire about this unexpected change. Even the picture on the packaging of the case I receive shows the other style rubber bumpers that allow the use of the smart cover. I will attach a picture to the item page. I hope this information helps in your buying decision since all other reviews, Amazon, and the Hand Candy website make no mention of this style of rubber bumpers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Whatever issues there were have been solved, May 18, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I had read review after review saying this was a great case except for the glue issue, so when I read that the company had fixed the issue and was providing support for the inferior units still in the wild I decided to go ahead and order it. I've returned many items to Amazon without a single issue so why not?

I'm glad to say that what I received was a great product, with velcro feet and is in fact a great case, fitting the iPad perfectly (this isn't some rehashed netbook case like some companies are selling) and providing excellent protection.

Some people might think the bubbles on the outside look odd. I think they look cool. Regardless, they do provide an added layer of protection and that's why you're buying the case, right?

I bought 23 cents worth of elastic and glued two 3-inch strips behind where the iPad sits. I use this to secure a microfiber cloth (an eyeglass cleaning cloth I got for a dollar) that now sites behind the iPad in the case. Any time it gets a little smudgy I have a wipe handy.

The reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is that it fits the iPad so well there's very little room for anything else. Even my little "elastic and a paper-thin cloth" hack pushed the limits of the case's capacity. I've yet to fit a pair of ear buds and I'd love to be able to. It would be great if the design of the case accounted for this, with perhaps a little pocket on the outside.

Bottom Line:
If you're looking for a case that fits the iPad perfectly and is as stylish as it is secure, there's not a better case out there. If you require a case that will hold a little bit more than just the iPad this one may or may not meet your needs. A little ingenuity (and some super glue) goes a long way though.

1.0 out of 5 stars Good Idea bad glue, April 19, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The item arrived alright but with a little defect. The rubber bumpers are held on with velcro. The velcro is glued to the rubber bumper with a substance that I think they intended to be glue. IT unfortunately resembles a similar substance that drains from my 6 years olds nose during the wither months. Although I paid a high price for this product I would rather fix it right then send it back and wait through the butt pain of the return process to get a product back with the same crappy glue. So if you want to pay 50 some odd bucks to receive this product only to remove snotty glue and fix it right feel free. I would look at another product instead. Like I said good Idea bad freakin glue.

Oh, for the others that have the same problem, remove snot with lemon juice, use 1 cent worth of hot glue. Look it works.

----Hard Candy---- feel free to hire me to actually design your product so that it works as advertised. I'll bring my own lemon juice and hot glue.

5.0 out of 5 stars A top notch iPad case, April 28, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I had pre-ordered my bubble case, and received the green unit with the same glue issue on the rubber feet inserts others have commented on. Basically the glue between the feet and their velcro layer would not dry.

Customer support was great.
They sent me a replacement case, and a prepaid UPS label to send back the defective unit. The glue problem was a known issue and the rubber feet now have the velcro sewed on to them.

That being said, the new case is great. Solid protection for the iPad without alot of weight or bulk, which is what I was looking for. I have no problem tossing it around the living room, or into the trunk of my motorcycle. Build quality is high and the case looks sharp. The rubber feet inserts also have a little wiggle room to move in the case (maybe 1/8'th inch in both dimensions). So an iPad with a thin case or shell could fit inside the bubble case if needed.

The case also folds in half pretty well if you don't want to remove the iPad for on-couch lap usage, but I think the case is better suited for use as a storage or transportation container. You'll want to take the iPad out for any extended usage.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome case for the iPad 2!, March 19, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I was one of the lucky ones to get my iPad 2 on launch day and needed a case right away. I ordered mine from Amazon on Saturday afternoon and received it on Monday (gotta love Amazon Prime with next day shipping for only $3.99!)
I am very impressed with this sleeve. It provides excellent protection for the iPad.

If you're wondering how it accommodates the iPad 2 with the smart cover attached, it fits like a glove!

I read some of the previous reviews but it appears that whatever problems plagued the previous versions of this case have been rectified. This case is well made; sturdy.

I have shown this case to several friends and they were equally impressed.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best iPad cases I have found, June 15, 2010

First of all, I think you can ignore the reviews from early April. HardCandy listened to those users who had problems and changed the product so the glue issue no longer applies. I purchased this in early June and was pleased to see that the placeholders have a velcro backing. They do a very good job of holding the iPad in place. Also, I think that there appears to be a little bit of wiggle room so you could use this to store your iPad if it had a cover on it. What impressed me was the amount of protection offered by this case. Many of the cases out for the iPad right now are more like sleeves and weren't really what I was looking for. This has good protection should you drop it and really holds the iPad in place. It's also a very stylish case and I think it's a very good value for the money. I know it's priced a little higher than some of the other cases offered but that's okay. You've paid at least $500 for the iPad. Get a good case like this one.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bad Glue Hurts This Product, Could Harm iPad, April 22, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I had the same experience as the other 2-star reviewer. The bumpers were sliding off the Velcro backing and smearing glue all over the back of the case and, if I used it, onto the iPad. The glue eventually came off my hands with acetone. To its credit, the manufacturer is one of the few that managed to get its product to market, but not worth the price of the case under the circumstances. Apple could have spared us by shipping the iPads with some kind of protective cover, nothing fancy but functional. The hunt for a good iPad case continues.
