I ordered this case a week ago before they sold out. My iPad 3G arrived yesterday and this case fits like a glove. I originally ordered the official apple case 1 month ago BUT I noticed that the back of the case was made of cloth and would not provide enough protection if I accidentally dropped it. I found this case at the hard candy case website and was surprised that amazon actually had some in stock.
This case is made out of flexible thick plastic that provides excellent protection. The screen protector is made out of the same material and provides maximum protection for your screen. The grooves in the case gives you extra grip so the iPad cannot easily slip out of your hand.
The main reason I choose this case is because the screen protector is removable and easily stores on the back of the case. My original apple case opened like a book but the flap of the case interfered with my ability to get a good grip while using the iPad.
UPDATE!!...............I still like this case BUT it makes my iPad feel a bit heavy(bulky) AND the detachable cover seemed like a good idea but I eventually stopped using the cover because I didn't want to carry it around with me. I now use a "Casecrown Canvas Flip Stand Case", my new case is a BETTER version of the official apple iPad case. You can find them on amazon, they have a vertical and horizontal version of the same case and they are available in black, gray or purple.

I set my iPad and my wallet on the roof of my truck (Tacoma 4X4) while I was in the parking lot being informed by my sister that my mother in Texas was in the hospital a believed to have had a stoke(second admission this week). I live in Seattle. It was dark and I was clearly distracted as I left to drive down the street to get gas. When I got to the gas station I turned to grab my wallet and suddenly had a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach because I realized what I had done. I immediately returned to the route I had taken to the gas station (approx. 1 mile), and as I came to the first corner with a stop sign where I had turned right I could see the black pad lying in the middle of the turn lane, just a a car was pulling in to turn left in front of me. I was fortunate that they drove over the pad but didn't hit it with any of the tires. I got out and picked it up and it appeared to be intact. I searched for my wallet but it was nowhere to be found (I had just gotten $300 out of the ATM). Took the screen cover off of the iPad and pushed the home button and the pad fired up and worked perfectly. On closer examination, I can barely find on one corner of the "Hard Candy Street Skin" a asphalt abrasion. My pad is the 64 gig 3G and i spent a little over $900 for it. I don't usually write reviews but feel compelled to do so in this instance. I didn't find my wallet and i was miffed about that but if i have to take a loss for my own careless oversight, I prefer it be the wallet with $300 cash and cards than the pad. Quite frankly i'm surprised it wasn't a total loss. Today after the MRI I find out more about my moms situation. Thank you Hard Candy for minimizing my losses. I have had struggles internally about the inconvenience of having to snap the screen cover on and off during everyday use. I was sure glad it was there when I needed it most. It's not everyday someone saves you from a $900 dollar loss. I am a grateful believer in this case/cover!!!!!

I bought one of these based on the reviews.
Likes: the fit and the materials are great. The Hard Candy Street case fits the iPad tighter than OJ's glove. And the grip makes you feel like the iPad is secure. It is very good looking and if you are carrying it around with the screen cover on it does not look like you are carrrying an iPad. The openings for the iPad's few ports and switches are perfect. The corner tabs for attaching the screen cover work fine and easy. I like the fact that the screen cover can attach to the back of the iPad and clip perfectly on the corner tabs to secure it while in use. Oh the material - it is soft but feels hard once installed on the iPad.
My son bought one of those fancy leather portfolio cases for his iPad. When he saw my Hard Candy street case he said he would return his and get the Hard Candy case.
Cons: They were out of Black! I had to get the Clear one. The Hot Pink was not a consideration. I wish they made them in more colors - like bright Yellow!

Deceiving
When I bought it, it was mentioned that it was for iPad 2, which was not the case, only for iPad, thus bad fit.

okay but not what I expected........
The hard candy case is okay, but not what I expected. The case does not quite fit my Ipad and was difficult to put on.

Stay away!

Leaves marks on the iPad screen
